Fourteen? Fourteen? She should be home studying algebra or reading Harry Potter. Boy, am I getting old! Cute kid. Congratulations, Rachel Sampson.

Yeah, she's cute. No doubting that, and her parents have a right to be proud alright. But where are all the 17-21 year olds that could be participating in this contest?
I'm being honest when I tell you all that I immediately thought of China and their 'alleged' under-aged gymnasts. 14yrs. is too young, in my opinion.

I imagine there were plenty of 17-21 year olds, but they LOST!!! haha!
If a girl wants to participate in the beauty pageant world, they have to start as early as they can. She is simply a beautiful young lady that beat out a few other beautiful young ,her own age or older.

I don't think there were that many entrants. I don't think the event is as popular as it was when it was part of the "Good Ole Summertime." I was a judge in 1999 because I won the logo contest in 1999. Anyone remember the blue "Utica" drawn like the city skyline with balloons on top? Anyone? Anyone? Buehler? Buehler? No? ok. (corner doesn't count)

I remember the logo also. It is great to know that I know someone as famous as you are, haha! Congratulations on the logo contest. I am glad that folks still participate in activity that promotes our city and keeps it alive and fun.
I used to go to the activities downtown every summer. It was great. The entertainment in front of the State Office Building and other locations around town, Hanna Park activity, the food vendors. It was a lot of fun. A couple that I knew entered a bed race one year.
I would hope to see something like that revived. We need to have some activity somewhere besides the brewery district, although that is a great thing also.
There IS a future for our downtown area. I don't know what it is, but one of these days, politicians will get their heads together and come up with a plan that will at least revitalize the area to a point that it will not be a bombed out ghost town.
Too many people with too many pie in the sky ideas, and improper funding and handling of the funding are sinking downtown. Giving breaks to deals like the Hotel Utica developers got, is counterproductive.
Keep the faith positivethinker. We need more citizens with heart and faith to bring hope to our hometown.

Famous? Well maybe almost 10 years ago. Yeah I tried looking for it online too. I think I have a button I can scan in. My cousin still has his t-shirt.
Sorry to be OT rick--I get off on tangents a lot. Cute picture though!
