www.wktv.com/news/1-dead-1-hospitalized-following-rollover-crash-in-utica/article_26ec0ba6-1857-11ed-a74b-47da41b1cf0a.htmlIt is sad that there are still people out there that will not buckle up. When a person is ejected from a vehicle at highway speeds it is a fact that they are most likely not going to fare well. It happens all too often here in this area. We don't see the enforcement checkpoints or as many traffic stops for not wearing the belt that are common in NY. However sad it is for those that they leave behind it is hard to garner sympathy for the victim. I don't know about NY State, but here in our area I read almost daily about an accident on the interstate or one of the local roads where a person is killed simply because they are ejected. Not long ago a man rolled his car on I-81and was ejected and was then run over by a car and a semi. I have gotten so used to buckling up that it is second nature. I buckle my belt just to drive from the bank across the parking lot to the grocery store. The other wannabe crash dummies that always leave me shaking my head in disbelief are the morons that ride a motorcycle without a helmet. A kid went flying by here the other day on a motorcycle, while I was mowing. He was dressed in shorts, flip flops and without a helmet. If he ever wrecks they will need a squeegee to scrape the raw meat out of the asphalt.

I heard about that accident. Damn shame. I was in a nasty accident years ago when the vehicle that I was a front seat passenger in was t-boned in an intersection. The only reason I'm still here is the car had automatic shouldet & lap belts. I got banged up pretty good & spent a couple days in hospital but without those belts I would have probably been ejected. I won't drive a block since then without being buckled in.

At this point they believe it was a matter of speeding and losing control of the vehicle. Rt 12 near Walmart has become of favorite place in the last couple years for the "angry lawnmower" crowd to race their rice buggies.

Yep, we live not far from the arterial & just about every night we can hear them running up & down that stretch of highway. It was only a matter of time before something like this happened.

Nothing is any more annoying and obnoxious sounding than those little rice grinding tin cans with their underpowered little 4 cylinder engines and the immature owners that think they are badass.

And that's why I call them "Angry Lawnmowers"! LOL! We have some kid up our road that has a older Honda with loud exhaust. Unbelievable how much noise that little crap can is able to make. The tailpipe has some sort of resonator or something on the end of it that has about a 4 or 5 inch outlet. Tennessee is very lax when it comes to loud exhaust. A big thing among young rednecks is to install a cat back" exhaust sytem on V8 pickups It is nothing more than replacing everything from the converter back with straight pipe. The noise from a gas pickup is atrocious and a diesel is not much better. Another thing that they are lax about enforcing is any window tint violations. That is surprising seeing as how it presents a very real danger to the officer's safety.
