I got mine running. Gave it a tune up, sprayed carb cleaner in it & cleaned the plug. Ordered a new air filter from Fleabay & cleaned the stator which had rust on it. I think I can limp it along for the next couple months, but will have to sock some cash away for next year, hoping the price drops on a new one, or maybe a good used one.

I can't imagine having to wear a habit in the hot weather. My dad's first cousin was a nun. She was a member of the order of the Sisters of St Joseph. The nuns that wore the black habits with the white head piece and black veil. They used to come to my great aunt and uncle's house in Trenton Falls just to escape the heat at the College of St. Rose. She was the bursar for the college and handled all the college's finances. She has been dead for several years now but she worked well into her old age and finally retired to the Mother House. I think that was in Latham. Our habit was not all that hot. It was made from a thin brown material so it was light weight. The winter habit was heavier material which I would never wear in the summer heat except as a penance.

I have heard of people cutting a hole in a styrofoam cooler, filling the cooler with ice, placing a blow dryer on it's cool setting and placed in the hole so it blows across the ice and out another hole on the opposite side of the cooler. I saw that online somewhere quite a while ago. My only question would be how long will a hair dryer last running constantly before it burns out or catches fire.

Darwin will have a field day with that idea when someone grabs the hair dryer with wet hands & gets fried..

Hopefully they would have the hair dryer plugged into a ground fault receptacle. How efficient could it be and how long is a bag of ice going to last when you are blowing warm air over it? (the ambient temperature of the outside air you are attempting to combat) How much velocity is the cool air going to have after swirling around in the cooler before exiting through the hole on the other end?

Another groundhog! A short time ago I was headed out to water the garden, looked out the window & there's another friggin groundhog out near the fence chewing on a deadfall pear. I can't believe this. I imediately got the Have A Heart out & baited it with some watermelon & lettuce & set it out near where he retreated when he saw me. This is the 5th one & at this point I'm really getting tired of this. I enjoy wildlife as much as the next person but these critters are really getting to be an issue. My garden is taking off so I have to get rid of them or they'll destroy it.

Somebody in Marcy must have seen you dropping them off and trapped them and brought them back, lol.
I'm glad your garden is doing well. Gardens here are planted earlier and did well this year other than weeds loving the warm weather and plentiful rain. Every one I know is getting a good yield but fighting the weeds like never before.

My neighbor puts 4 tomato stakes around each melon put chicken wire around the stakes, making a little cage for each melon. I planted cantaloupe this year. I only planted 3 hills and spaced them according to guidance on the seed package. The vines grew and ran, the plants blossomed but for one reason or another they never pollinate or produced fruit. I have heard in some cases a plant only produces blossoms of one sex and I guess both sexes of blossoms are necessary for successful pollination. At any rate I pulled them up to make more room for the squash vines to spread out. Enjoy that melon when it is ripe. My farmer friend in Kingsport grew melons this year and his plants produce huge melons. I am not sure what variety they are. He put a photo on FB the other day of him holding a watermelon that weighed 34 lbs. I bought a watermelon yesterday along with two cantaloupes. The watermelon is plenty large and only weighs 13 lbs. I can't imagine Kathy and I ever being able to eat a 34 lb melon. When we lived in Phoenix Az. in the 50s you could buy a watermelon off the back of a truck for a buck. My dad used to cut it up and we sat outdoors at the picnic table and ate it. We spit the seeds on the ground and they would sprout all around the table. They never were let to grow obviously because they were in the lawn and got mowed. Perfect growing environment. Hot days and dad watered the lawn every night with a soaker hose. That 13 lbs was plenty to tote out to the car.

If we let them, I think my grandsons could finish any size watermelon. A teenager, a preteen and an elementary schooler: I can't remember a time they said, "Too much."

I haven't caught him yet but a little while ago he was smack dab in the middle of the garden. I moved the trap over there & tossed in some cut up carrot. He's mine. I wish that bozo behind me would plant a garden. We need rain in these parts big time. I'm watering the garden every other day & my lawn is turning brown.

I've now lowered myself to playing musical chairs with the trap. Had it in the garden, he's eating pears out near the fence. Moved the trap over there. This morning he's in the garden. Moved the trap back there. A couple hours ago he's back near the fence. I can't win. Why me, Lord?
