Definitely use a respirator and be careful not to breathe any of that crap or get it on you. Of course if the neighbor comes out you can always spray him down with it, put the sprayer wand in his hand and they will think he had a heart attack while being a good neighbor and killing the weeds so they wouldn't climb your fence. lol

Just in case you missed it, here is my post from 5 years ago today: A gambling gardener usually hedges his bets. LOL! I have made reference or used some of your puns over the years. I truly enjoy reading them every day. Hard to believe that there are 352 pages of the daily puns. Thank you for the effort and perseverance that must go into finding a pun for each and every day. I wish I could go back and determine exactly when you started posting them and how many puns have been posted.

According to Proboards, this thread started in May 2009. Getting a count would be time consuming.

LOL! I sure would be. Depending on the length of each quote, each page probably has a varied number of quotes. You could sit for a week clicking on each page and counting all the quotes.

Try to say cool today. With the heat index expected to reach 98 degrees one needs to be careful if you have to be outdoors for any extended period of time.
You are getting the heat today and WE are getting a bit of a break. It is still going to be in the mid eighties but that is a real break from the several days that it has been in mid nineties lately. It was 94 yesterday when I was mowing. I had to catch up on the mowing because all the hot humid weather has made the grass go wild. It was still 80 degrees last night at 11:30 when I went to bed. It was so humid that my shirt was wet when I finished. There was absolutely no breeze whatsoever.

I planned on mowing a couple hours ago. Pushed the mower out of our garage onto the driveway, got on turned it over & no start. Fiddled around a bit with it but no luck. So back into the garage it went - by pushing it. In this heat I'm not messing with it so the lawn can wait. It's been acting up lately, blue/black smoke on startup but then clears up. A new one is not in the cards this year because like everything else on 4 wheels the price of riding mowers has skyrocketed.
Caught the groundhog last night, number 4. Off he went for a reunion with his buddies in Marcy.

Came home earlier than usual. It was rather hot but that did not bother me as much. The Bus I took to Consumer Square did not have good air conditioning. Luckily the ride from here to the Square was short. However the return trip was another thing the a/c was broken and it was hot. Got downtown and sat in Hub waiting room to cool off and decided to return home. Bus to home was same Bus with same driver who by now was drenched with sweat. I felt sorry for him he is a young guy and very friendly and always has something to say. He told me he tried to get a new Bus but none available so bear with this. Then he said this was the fourth time in three weeks this has happened he is beginning to think someone doesn't like him. What a day......

How old is your mower. When we moved here I had a 12 horse rider that was Kathy's dad's. I mowed our 3/4 acre and mom and dads 1/2 acre for two years before it finally gave up. I was puffing blue smoke when I started it and when I shut it down it sort of coasted to a stop rather than stopping when I turned off the key. I assume it had little to no compression left and the valves were shot. Finally one day I started it, opened the throttle to mowing speed and it blew up. It was about 15 yrs old.
My last mower was a 19hp and it lasted 17 yrs. When it got tired it went the same way her Dad's mower did. I started it, began to mow and there was a loud clanging noise, a bang, a puff of smoke, and it would no longer turn over. No matter how well you maintain them they still wear out with age I guess.

When that was done I started it & it was blowing black smoke & barely runnng but i just put it in reverse & backed it back in. I should have let i run for a couple minutes but didn't. My bad. Cuz now it won't start. I may check it out tomorrow & see what she do.

This heat wave is to stay until Tuesday. I was remembering today that this feels like the August temps when I lived in Southwest Missouri. Only thing is we have a large rec center with inground pools so I swam everyday after my work shift in the Infirmary then when it was time for prayer in Chapel with the community ( Divine Office ) I threw on my habit over my trunks hopped in the car drove down the hill last minute and ran into Chapel. At 5:30 PM everyday it was real hectic then time for supper and off I went to the pool. Loved it all. Several other Brothers did the same.

I can't imagine having to wear a habit in the hot weather. My dad's first cousin was a nun. She was a member of the order of the Sisters of St Joseph. The nuns that wore the black habits with the white head piece and black veil. They used to come to my great aunt and uncle's house in Trenton Falls just to escape the heat at the College of St. Rose. She was the bursar for the college and handled all the college's finances. She has been dead for several years now but she worked well into her old age and finally retired to the Mother House. I think that was in Latham.

Finally a little break in the heat. Only going to be in the mid to high seventies tomorrow. That will feel quite refreshing after the recent trend of high 80's to the mid 90's.

Grandson Mikey is trying to learn small engine repair. He fixed one for our neighbors which was running very badly. Said he just cleaned the air filter, carb and plugs, then dumped out the old gas (it had been stored over-winter with gas in the tank, she knows better) and asked grandma to drive him to the gas station for fresh gas). She was very impressed with him. His mom was less impressed when one he was working on in her garage backfired and started a fire. He put it out with no damage done but she was not happy.
He tried to get a summer job with the place in Chadwicks which does small engine repair, but they said their insurance wouldn't let them hire 15 year olds.
