A delicious dish a friend pointed out to me. SMOTHERED GREEN BEANS Ingredients: 5 (15-oz) cans green beans, drained 1 lb bacon ⅔ cup brown sugar ¼ cup butter melted ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce 1½ tsp garlic powder Instructions: Preheat oven to 350ºF. Pour drained green beans in an ungreased 9×13-inch pan. In a large skillet, cook bacon until almost done but not too crispy. Remove from skillet, drain on paper towel and chop. Sprinkle cooked bacon on top of green beans. Whisk together brown sugar, melted butter, soy sauce and garlic powder. Pour over green beans. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes.

I bought some green beans today at Walmart. They were fresh and just being placed in the shelf. Not very green looking so I should not have bought them but did anyway. I like a green bean salad. Boil beans till tender then drain on paper so they dry up a little. Place in bowl add a few thin sliced garlic and olive oil. Let marinate for a few hours then add a little balsamic vinegar. Serve room temp. I also like Beans in tomato sauce.

My mom used to prepare green beans with oil and a bit of vinegar, a little crushed garlic, and some oregano. She usually let it sit in the refrigerator over night and served it cold. She also used to make a 3 bean salad with green beans, yellow beans, and kidney beans, like what you see in cans today in the market. It was sort of sweet and sour. Like it had vinegar and oil but she must have put sugar in to make it sweet.

Another way I like fresh green beans may sound a bit weird but I also like them just briefly blanched and I eat them like french fries, dipped in ranch dressing.
