WOW It is huge. Enjoy your meal and the winnings. Good luck. I have no luck winning anything. I went to the Casino out in Rome several years ago and lost a fortune: $10,00!

We each took $200. When we left we counted our money and the 4 1/2 hours of fun cost us $35. The machines were going up and down. We would lose for a while and then the machine would pay off for a while.
We didn't eat in the restaurant. The entire casino was packed and there was a 1/2 hour wait list for a table. We looked at the menu. We just wanted a sandwich. A hamburger was $12 with a handful of potato chips or skimpy few french fries.
A lady next to me had me watch her machine while she went to an ATM. She came back and said that they charged her a $6 service charge to withdraw $100. Seems pretty greedy to me. Lets get it straight. A person normally goes the ATM in a casino to make a withdrawal because they have lost their money. I can't believe that they charge $6 to get more money to dump into their machines or over their tables.
Makes no difference to Kathy and I. We love to play the slots but when we go we only take a set amount of money with us and if we lost it we leave.

For 4 1/2 hours playing losing $35. ain't bad. That $12 for a burger is about the going rate up here unless it's McD's etc. We ordered from Five Guys not too long ago & the bill was almost $30.00 for the two of us. But they do make a good burger & an order of of fries will feed two people.
TS also grabs a rediculous fee for their ATM.

5 guys burger is much larger than the skimpy thing they are getting 12 bucks for. Theirs is not much bigger than a slider. We saw the waiter walk by with one. It looked like a quarter pounder from McDonalds with lettuce and a slice of tomato on the side. At least give me a nice plump hand patted patty for that price.
When we have eaten at the TS it has usually been the buffet in late years. When we lived there we occasionally spent the $100 or so to have a nice prime rib at their steakhouse.
Never used the ATM at TS either. We ALWAYS take what we are willing to spend with us in cash. I have sat near the ATM at Harrah's Cherokee NC Casino and watched people make multiple withdrawals, just KNOWING that the big jackpot is just one more slot pull away. NOT!!!
Restaurant portions have gotten ridiculously small with everyone cutting corners to cut costs. the crappy meal we had recently at Red Lobster was proof enough for me.
We enjoyed the time we spent, but my biggest bitch was that they allow smoking, and the place wreaked with smoke. We checked out the limited no smoking area and they had the AC turned so low in there that you needed a ski parka, haha. Poor Kathy had some woman sit down next to her that chain smoked. Our clothes smelled like smoke and went in the washer as soon as we got home.
Quiet day today. TV, internet, home made soup and watching the rain fall.

I think NY has gone past the saturation point in casinos and they now just suck business from each other.

I agree CB. The Oneida Nation has 4 casinos that I know of within a 40 mile radius. They have always had a policy of putting machines anywhere that they can. There used to be machines in all of the convenience stores at one time. I don't think they have them there any more but I could be wrong. It seems that they only take away from the Turning Stone when they keep building those little satellite locations. They are actually pretty bare bones, basically a warehouse like atmosphere with slot machines.

The last time I went to a casino was about 1 year ago. The wife was visiting her sister so I went to Vernon Downs, blew $50.00 on a draw poker machine in less than 1/2 hour & hit the bricks.

We went back up there yesterday afternoon to see if it was better during the week. Of course it was. Opening day was chaos and we should have known it would be. We took 50 bucks apiece out of the jar that we save money in for trips to the Turning Stone when we come North. It was much less crowded. There was very little smoking and we weren't choking on smoke. We played for about two hours on our 50 bucks apiece and come out ahead. My machine would take anywhere from a 75 cent bet to $6.75. I played 75 cents for quite a while and got far enough ahead to risk betting a buck and a half. It hit the button about 6 or 8 times and went back to 75 cents. I hit what they call the Minor Jackpot, which is the jackpot for the lower bets. I won $400. Kathy was on the machine next to me and she won $85. Some woman hit it big. We didn't know how big until today when it hit the news. We heard the bells ringing and saw her signing the tax forms on a clipboard. $45,112.00. www.msn.com/en-us/money/news/person-wins-jackpot-worth-more-than-45k-on-bristol-casino-slot-machine/ar-AAZv9FA?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=a6e30d32545f431286b47b6f7b3a47b5I imagine they will pay out for a while to encourage people to keep coming, but I am sure that they will tighten up the machines after a while. They are making a splash with the locals by donating to local charities. They presented a check for $100K to the local United Way at the grand opening ceremony. All their rolls, breads and baked goods are coming from local vendors. Kathy's favorite candy shop downtown is selling them all the fudge and candy. Another local business is supplying local crafts and souvenirs. Local beer distributors, soda distributors and others are going to do well. 600+ employees so far and an estimated 2500-3000 when the entire resort, convention center, entertainment venue, various restaurants, and the hotels are complete in 2024-25 time frame. I am sure it will be a huge contributor to the local economy but I am actually quite surprised that the referendum ever passed here in bible belt. We figure we will go every month or so. I fear that some locals are going to have a gambling problem just as a lot of CNY residents did and do with the Turning Stone.

I get 33 and I should be at 300m of course I do not know what I am doing when they say to unconnect this or that to modem and or router. so confusing. I may just throw everything out the window.....

Wow. sorry to hear you are still wrestling with Spectrum. We have Spectrum also and their customer service sucks. They recently over billed us. I tried to reach someone with little success so we drove the 20+ miles to Kingsport to their store. The kid in the store told me that I could go online and straigten it out. I said no, YOU can go online and straighten it out or you can go online and cancel our account and I will be back tomorrow with your boxes and modem. it took him all of about 10 minutes to correct the problem.
Maybe someone with a bit of tech knowledge could stop by and help you out. A friend, a new neighbor, or a relative? I know the pain. I have zero knowledge when it comes to such things. Thankfully we have friends that we routinely go out to dinner with and bowl with who are always ready and willing to help me out. Gail is very tech savvy and builds websites for people or creates spreadsheets for them. She is the one who spent a considerable amount of time sorting out my FB mess and helping me create a new email and FB account.
Thanks for the congrats on our winning at the casino. We have seen the place and satisfied our curiosity so we won't be going again for a month or so. We just put the money away for the next time we decide to go. We have enjoyed playing slot machines for years. You just have to set the rules, take only what you are willing to lose, leave the credit and debit cards home or locked in the car, and use a bit of common sense in keeping the visits to a minimum. We used to go to the Turning Stone quite often before we moved down here. I was still working and making good money so we had the money for discretionary spending. Now we live on a fixed income and have allocate our funds a bit more to insure that the savings accounts continue to grow rather than to decline. Obviously when we get older and quit working, we have to be a bit more careful with our spending. We can't live foot loose and fancy free with our money. Kathy is a great book keeper. Because we keep a close watch on our budget I always have some available funds if I want to buy something for the shop or if she wants to go shopping for something.
We knew a person up there that got hooked on shooting craps at TS. He cashed checks against their home equity line of credit unbeknown to his wife. When he died deeply indebted his kids had to pay off thousands in order for the guy's widow, who was in her mid 80's to avoid foreclosure on their home. I am sure that a lot of local folks in that area have pissed away their lives at the tables.
I hope you are able to get your internet speed problem cleared up soon. Nothing more frustrating than computer issues and a provider that gives little to no help in correcting them.

PB, it sounds like good ole Spectrum is giving you the runaround. i could be wrong but if it's a new install why would you have to reboot your cable modem? You can try this anyway: just unplug everything from the back of your internet modem, wait few minutes & plug the lines back in & see what happens. If your not sure where the lines go back just write it down. It may take a few minutes for the modem to boot back up & connect with your computer. Good luck. One of the problems with Spectrum is that the equipment that they rent to customers like internet & cable modems are GARBAGE. We had to replace our cable box three times in less then 2 years because the thing just up & quit working.

I think that they also can do a hard reboot over the cable from their location. I know it works to reset a cable tv box, I don't know about a router or modem.
Their boxes ARE junk. We have an HD box on the living room tv and a cheaper non HD box on the small tv in the kitchen. A few months ago we were having trouble with the kitchen tv going black but the audio still coming in. It would happen a couple times a week and we would have to turn the box on and off a couple times and eventually the picture would come back. They tried to tell me that it was the tv. I unhooked that box and swapped it with the upgraded box from the living room. With the crappy box the living room had the same problem it did in the kitchen and we would lose picture on the living room tv. Meanwhile the kitchen tv had no more problems. They finally agreed to give us a new box. They wanted me to come to Kingsport to pick it up. I had them just have a technician swap it out the next time one was in neighborhood. They came a day or so later and no more problems since.
Stay on their ass PB until they get it fixed. Let them send a technician back to straighten it out.
We have had Spectrum more than once over the years and the service has always been crappy.

Lol If you have a router it wouldn't hurt to reboot it. Same drill as the internet modem.
