Some friends who were originally from Albany area recommended a place in Kingsport that purportedly made a great pizza, just like they were used to buying in Albany.
We decided to go there for supper last night. We drove the 20 miles, drooling all the way in anticipation of a pizza comparable to what we were used to buying back in Utica. Disappointment ensued. Their large cheese pizza was $16 and $2.50 for each additional topping. We ordered Italian sausage, mushrooms, and peppers. I think they put the sauce on with a paint brush, there was very little cheese, the peppers were raw, and the mushrooms were sparsely distributed with each slice only having a couple of slices of mushroom. The only redeeming feature was the Italian sausage. They make their own. It was spicy, delicious, was sliced thick and was generously abundant on the pizza. NOTE to self: Never order pizza in the Albany area if that is what Albany natives find "great."
They do however make a great antipasto salad so the trip was not a complete bust.

Gee that is not a pizza lovers delight. I am not a fan of pizza. I like tomato pie and have not had that in years. I can't get over the prices that are being asked for a pizza. Might as well have a steak or chicken dinner.
People around here eat pizza like it is the only available food to eat/ Always see empty pizza boxes in garbage room but they are usually that cheap stuff or the Walmart variety which I never tried.

We don't eat pizza very often. We had not had pizza in a couple of months. Yes, pizza has sadly become a mainstay in some people's lives. Especially since the pandemic became a limiting issue to dining out. You can't drive far without seeing a car with their little lighted Papa John's, Domino, or Pizza Hut sign stuck to the roof.
