wcyb.com/news/local/johnson-county-sheriffs-department-to-hold-free-church-security-programs-tennessee-preventing-mass-shootingsWe bowl with a gal and her mom, and go out to eat with them quite frequently. (Went to supper with them today,) She went to classes sponsored by OUR county's sheriff's department. She had go for 3 hours, two nights a week for two weeks, possess a concealed carry permit, and own a side arm and qualify on a range. Her and her mom belong to a large Christian Fellowship church that holds two services each Sunday with over 300 people on the average in attendance for both services. She has carried a concealed pistol for as long as we have known her, and is the one that I go to the range with on occasion. Her deceased dad was a disabled Vietnam vet and both of them were avid recreational shooters. Her church has two or more armed parishioners at each service. Four members have attended the classes, and who knows how many others are carrying. A lot of people here carry a concealed weapon. I joined a local VFW post that has a pistol and rifle range on their property for members and guests. Don't go often with the price of ammunition in recent times. $23 for 50 rounds.

I agree PB. Very sad indeed when armed security is necessary in a church OR a school. I never thought I would be inclined to carry a gun, but it is a common thing here and if you see me wearing a shirt untucked you can almost bet that there is a holster tucked in the back of my waistband. While I don't carry it all the time, I never thought I would tuck a gun in my waist band and do it almost without thought while getting dressed to go out. It becomes routine and I seldom even think about it being tucked in there. That alone is a sad reality. Things are much different here in the South compared to NY, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
It is sad to realize that having someone carrying a legally concealed weapon to church can save large numbers of lives if someone starts shooting. Is it better to have armed church members that can at least neutralize a shooter before a massive number of people are killed, or to be unprotected when someone opens fire with the intention to kill as many as possible?

It's a shame that people have to carry guns into church. There are 400 million guns floating around in this Country & gun violence is never going to end, just like the drug problem will never end. There's too much of both out there & too many users of both. So, we might as we ll get used to it & pray that one of our loved ones aren't a victim of either.
There's a ton of money being made pedaling both as as long as that occurs neither issue will ever be solved. We can see that now with the stooges of the NRA & the gun lobby balking about doing something about guns even though countless children have been gunned down in schools. It's a disgrace.
The lives of school children & other innocent people do not matter to drug & gun manufacturers & the NRA. I hope the money is worth it.
