Must have a license to purchase a gun Must be 21 years old to get license or purchase a gun Semi Automatics are now banned. Body amour and vest can no longer be sold to civilian's Amount of ammunition's is limited for a single purchase
A few more that I have to wait till they are written up in news sources.
Let's see if this stops mass killings which means 4 or more people shot at. Guess this doesn't address single killings or drive by shootings. Nor someone skilled with a knife.

Well here is the story. www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/news/2022/06/03/ny-lawmakers-pass-historic-gun-control-legislation-on-final-day-of-sessionNY Lawmakers pass historic gun control legislation on final day of session By Zack Fink New York City PUBLISHED 7:00 PM ET Jun. 03, 2022 In the final hours of the Albany legislative session, lawmakers approved a series of gun control bills that make New York’s already tight laws covering firearms even stricter. “Ten bills are passing today in both the Senate and the Assembly,” said Democratic state Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins. “And the idea is to tighten New York’s gun laws. To close loopholes that directly address the gaps in our laws exposed by these horrific shootings in Buffalo, Uvalde, Chattanooga and around the country.” The bills include raising the age to purchase a semiautomatic rifle from 18 to 21, a ban on civilian body armor, and changes to the state’s red flag law. So far, Gov. Kathy Hochul hasn’t had much to say about it publicly. She refused to take questions at a public event this week, including one Friday in Harlem, where she briefly addressed the legislature taking action. “So we are saying here in New York that we will lead. But the rest of the states, shame on you if you don’t. This is a moment of reckoning,” Hochul said. The gun legislation also included a bill to micro-stamp every bullet shot out of newly purchased guns, assisting law enforcement in ballistics investigations. “New York cannot stand idly by. And that’s why we are here. We are taking action. We are once again leading the nation on smart and common sense gun laws. State legislatures have to act,” said Stewart-Cousins. The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to issue a ruling this month on whether to overturn New York’s concealed carry law. State lawmakers say if that happens, they may have to go back to Albany for a special session to adjust the state’s carry permit laws. I may have misunderstood some laws.

Micro stamp every bullet? I have to think that it would be almost impossible to locate the stamp or to read it after the bullet has impacted anything even close to solid. I guess if they want to trace the bullet back to a shooter they need to hope that it doesn't hit a bone.

Guys like Lyin Ted Cruz who are bought off by the NRA & the gun lobby want all doors locked in schools, arming teachers, hiring armed guards etc, turning schools into prisons. Hey, no problem. But guess what? If some maniac with an AR wants to gun down students in schools & can't get in, then what? He heads over to a shopping mall, movie theater, church, hospital, nightclub, wherever & the carnage begins. So keep allowing people easy access to military grade weapons & see what happens. An army recruit who is issued an AR has to carry the weapon around for weeks, unloaded no ammo issued until the proper training is given. But an 18 year old can walk into a gun store in Texas, buy an AR & all the ammo he or she wants & that's it. Brilliant. Real smart.

When I last read about microstamping, it involved etching an identifying number into the firing pin of a gun. Then if a casing was recovered at a crime scene, it could be traced back to the gun which fired it. I don't think it has ever been tried on a large scale.

I took it to read stamping the bullet itself. Not the casing. Stamping the casing probably makes sense.
It is well known fact that I am pro-gun and pro 2nd amendment, but at risk of letting government go down a progressive road to over controlling gun ownership, I have to say that forbidding young people from buying or possessing semi auto rifles, while unfair to young hunters, is probably justified by the sad and tragic actions of SOME teen shooters.
As for adults owning AR15's? The fact remains that it is nothing more than a semi-auto rifle with a military looking configuration. Yep, the adage is still a fact. The gun doesn't kill anyone. It is the person pulling the trigger. Going back many years, they outlawed switch blade knives and it had little effect on the number of stabbings. Those who wanted to cut someone simply bought a box knife or straight razor.
Maybe the focus could be on deterring crime by doing away with the ridiculous bail reforms that tie the hands of law enforcement and endanger all of us by letting dangerous criminals continue their reign of terror unimpeded by jail time. Maybe schools and others should not be so hesitant to report social media posts and strange behavior that may indicate some sort of mental instability. It is a sick society we live in today. Taking away one version of a rifle is not going to prevent someone intending to commit a mass shooting from doing it. It may lower the death toll while the shooter has to stop and reload or operate the action on the weapon by hand, but it will not solve the actual problem or prevent someone intent on killing from carrying out the shooting.
Lastly, aside from the gun issue, I am left to wonder if all the news coverage in some sick way is bringing out copycats and wannabe's. The news needs to be reported but one has to wonder if it encourages and prompt some unstable person who has contemplated a mass shooting, seeking attention and wanting to go out in a blaze of glory to carry out a shooting.

On the news last night they ran the footage of her speech again and she said microstamping guns..I wondered how using a bullet would work
