WASHINGTON, D.C. — North Country Representative Elise Stefanik has announced the FBI will open an investigation into the October 6, 2018 limousine crash in Schoharie, New York that resulted in the deaths of 20 people.
"This investigation must happen quickly and thoroughly in order to provide the devastated families and communities answers that they have been waiting years for." Rep. Stefanik said in a statement.
Rep. Stefanik previously questioned FBI Director Christopher Wray about whether the agency turned a blind eye to negligence within the company that owned and operated the limousine that crashed because its owner, Malik Shahed Hussain, served as an FBI informant in a separate incident.

The limousine that crashed killing the driver, 17 passengers and two pedestrians had failed its state DMV inspection the previous month and should not have been on the road, the governor's office previously confirmed. Officials said the driver of the limousine also did not have the appropriate driver’s license to be operating that vehicle.
I have to wonder if the case in which Malik Shahed Hussain was serving as an informant was so critical that it warranted the alleged negligence in investigating the negligence of the owner of the limousine company. It seems that 20 families have allegedly been left with unanswered questions for 4yrs.
In my opinion the fact that the owner of the company was allowed to walk away with nothing more than probation was a travesty. 20 lives were lost. It seems to me that ANY negligence should result in prison time for the owner who allowed the driver to drive without the proper license, and allowed the limo to be used when it did not meet safety standards or pass inspection.
"The FBI will open an investigation?" Does anyone care to hazard a guess as to what the results of the FBI investigating ITSELF will reveal, or what action will be taken as a result?
