I said gas would hit $4/gal by end of Feb. but I missed the mark by a couple days. Wish I was wrong whatever the date. Putin invading Ukraine was bound to happen sooner or later but nobody gave a damn because the big bucks were rolling in. The entire planet knew that Putin is a muderous thug, but hey, there's money to be made. Take a look at who's caught up in these sanctions. Major banks, investment houses, major airlines, shipping companies, Apple Inc., Microsoft, you get the picture, a who's who of corporate giants who were profiting off doing business over there even though the country is run by a murderer who kills & imprisons his opponents, sends hit squads to foreign lands to poison his enemies & has disidents in his own country thrown into gulags. Not to mention what Putin did in Syria helping to slaughter thousands & thousands of innocent people. But the big profits were rolling in doing business in Russia so all's good in fairy tale land until now when the sh*t has hit the fan thanks to Putin who was allowed to steal billions of $$$ from his own people & as long as Apple & the big banks got theirs all is good. Think big oil is going to give up the billions in profits they're raking in by doing business with Putin & his mobsters? Never happen.

Are they telling us that we could ban Russian oil imports and simply make up the difference by purchasing more oil from other suppliers?

We import very little oil from Russia but without their supply the world price will go up. Europe could be very hard hit.

I bought gas tonight at Food City. The posted price was $4.09. $3.94 with a 15 cent rewards discount per gallon. I only needed a quarter of a tank and it was $28.

I am going to put a sign in my back window that says "if you voted for Biden follow me to the pumps. You are buying." LOL. I saw it on a car in the doctor's office parking lot when I took Kathy to the doctor this morning.

$4.49 today, Nice that the gas price signs are all electric. No more having to run outside with a long pole to mechanically change number signs. Now they can easily change the price several times a day as the price of crude goes up. Putin will have a lot to answer to behind his shiny new iron wall. But I notice when the price of crude drops the price at the pump doesn't. Funny how that works. I'm sure that Clifford Fuel which is the major supplier in this market wouldn't take advantage of this situation. Of course not.

It can go up a dime or more in overnight but when it drops it drops a penny at a time over a long period of time. Gas prices remained steady at around $4.05 to $4.09. I assume it will probably jump again tomorrow. Our governor is considering cancelling the gasoline tax for 90 days. Our state gas tax in 27.5 cents a gallon.
We are going to start putting away money so that we can keep about $1000 or more in a separate emergency account for gas for our summer travels, replenishing the account as we use it. As much as it will hurt, tightening our belts and each of us putting $200 a month in the bank we will have $2000 by July, less any we spend if we go camping around here somewhere relatively close. We have no plan to go crazy and play fancy free with that account. We figure that everyone would benefit from putting aside a nest egg to ease some of the pain at the pump and insure that we are not caught at any time without money for gas. Right now, with gas at just over $4 it would cost us $200 to fill the 50 gallon tank on the motorhome just once. I am quite certain that with the gas higher prices we always encounter in the northeast we will NOT be coming North with it and staying in a campground. If we come up there at all, it will be with just the pickup for a week or 10 days and the gas will probably cost us 6 or 7 hundred bucks. Well over twice what it cost us last summer. Once we hit Maryland and Pennsylvania the gas prices get crazy.
You that live in CNY are very fortunate. You can be camping on one of the many beautiful Adirondack Lakes or vacationing in the many resort areas in NY State in an hour or less. As much as we love living here, we really miss the Adirondacks in summer. We only have very limited options here for camping that don't involve traveling an hour and a half or more away from home. There are surprisingly very few campgrounds located on the TVA Lakes around us that are actually ON the lakes and we are not terribly interested in camping anywhere not on a river or lake.
Gas prices actually have me thinking about trading the truck for something more economical such as a small SUV or a minivan with cargo space and a much smaller engine with much better fuel economy. I have driven a pickup truck ever since the late 70's but with no more camping trailer to drag around I figure we could get by with a more economical vehicle and I could buy a small trailer big enough to haul 8 foot plywood or lumber.

You could always trade down to a small SUV & buy a utility trailer to haul lumber or what have you. Towing a trailer shouldn't be a problem as long as you have the right hitch. With the price of pickups nowadays & them being in short supply I'll bet a dealer would pounce on your Ram & you'll walk away with a nice profit. I'll bet you can pick up a used trailer on marketplace for a decent price. Even the new ones are reasonable depending on size. Just a thought......
