This video is a full tour of the barns and operation at DiNitto Farms. It is certainly a massive operation. Lucas said they are milking 750 cows three times a day right now. The days of the farmer sitting between cows on a milking stool are gone, so are the days of running back and forth across the aisle changing 3 or 4 milking machines from one cow to another.
Dairy farming has gotten to a point where it is "go big or go home." Not many little family farms milking 70 or 80 cows are left.
You should take the time to watch the video. Once you get past the first few minutes of Lucas and Logans pulling tractors that they take to tractor pulls you will get a tour through the entire barn system where cows are grouped by age, breeding status, and whether they are milking or dry.
They are milking 750 cows, and counting the dry cows that are not presently giving milk, and the calves and heifers, they probably have over double that number all together. He said at one point during the video that this time of year they are sometimes delivering 28 or 30 calves a day.
They plant 650 acres of corn and probably almost that much hay and grass, plus the grain and feed that they purchase from a feed mill.
Some of us that have been with the forum since the beginning will remember Terry DiNitto as "Country Gal" on the forum. You will see her horses and her little donkey "Lucky" who is a riot to watch. She puts up facebook video of his shenanigans periodically.
Take the time to watch the video. You will have a new appreciation for the work and equipment that goes into bringing that milk from the cow to the dairy case in your favorite store.

Wow huge operation. They modernize the milking process. To bad a method could be developed to modernize where the milk comes from. All those cows and all that need to be artificially inseminated then all the new cows that are born to grow up and start the process again.
Let's have a huge shout out for plant based milk. Nice almond trees not producing all that methane gas. Now that would be so much easier.

Almond "milk?" I have never seen teats on an almond. It is nothing more than nut juice so why not call it by it's true name? Yup, no one would buy it, haha. No thanks. I want my fresh cold cow's milk. When I ran the farm for my mom and dad's friend in Boonville for a year back in the early 70's we kept a hot pot in the milk house to heat water for instant coffee. When we wanted milk in our coffee we squatted between two cows, grabbed a teat and squirted however much milk we wanted into our cup. can't get any fresher than that.

I use 1/2 and 1/2 for my cup of coffee in morning and early evening but I use Almond Milk in morning 3 times a week for my breakfast protein shake. I always get Almond Breese unsweetened. Way to much sugar in the regular variety. I tried Oat Milk but do not like it for some reason. The Almonds seem to speak to me which I enjoy especially when I wake up at 10 Am in the morning. I have a little Almond Doll that likes to get dressed up in the morning and share my protein shake.

To each their own I guess PB. When I drank cream in my coffee I couldn't stand the soy bean based non-dairy creamer crap either. Give me just plain old wholesome milk. I am old school I guess. No veggie burgers, tofu or nut juice fraudulently labeled as milk. I tried a swallow of almond milk just once and spit it back in the cup. They were handing out samples at Sam's Club.
My sister drinks that stuff. No thanks. But for those that like it, rock on. Enjoy.
