I was reading about these pickles in American Test Kitchen and they so far the best in terms of being very crunchy and garlicky and dilly! I love Mt. Olive whole Dill Pickles and Clauson variety and read that Clauson is as good as Boars but for less money. I thought it might be easy to find a store here to purchase the Boars Head product but I have not seen them in this area. Anyone here every see them being sold in your area of the USA. So far I found a store in Cicero, NY but I think the price of a round trip Bus fare plus lodging and dinner ( I just could not eat pickles ) at a hotel for overnight just might be cost prohibitive for me. Any suggestions....

You mention of the brand name Boar's Head rang a bell with me. Kroger's deli sells a whole line of Boar's Head products. Most of their cold cuts are Boar's Head. It sent me to the fridge to check on a jar of dill pickles that I bought for a relish tray on thanksgiving. Sure enough, they were Boar's Head. I have bought them before. I bought the chips before for burgers and sandwiches. They have Boar's Head mustards, horse radish sauce, and the pickles on top of the deli case. I will check the next time I am in Kroger's and see if they have the whole dill pickles.
I don't know if they could be packed in bubble wrap and sent UPS or something. I WILL tell you that the spears were good. There were three left from thanksgiving and now there are only two, hahaha.

I found the Boars Head at that little upscale store on Genesee St. I'll taste then tonight If you like a little spice Hap's sells bread & butter pickles that are spiked with I think, Thai chili peppers. They're excellent. Not too much heat, just enough to let you know it's there. Which reminds me we're out of them.

Does anyone remember the horse radish pickles in the gallon jars that Zimowski Wholesale use to sell to the bars? I used to get them at Jean's Tavern in Westmoreland back in the 70's before I quit drinking. They would light up your life. Hot hot hot! She gave me a jar from them with the left over brine once and I took it home and picked eggs in it. WOW! The eggs would clear your sinuses too.

PB, I am glad you found some pickles close to home. I was going to buy you a jar and UPS them to ya. They ARE very good. Did you find the whole pickles or the spears? Have you tried them yet?

I ate the last two spears tonight with supper. They had been there since thanksgiving just taking up space. I am not a pickle gourmet. I just happened to grab the Boar's Head because I was in the deli end of the store and happened to see them sitting on top of the display case when was headed to the produce section. Save a trip to the other end of the store. I actually like the dills that Kathy made a couple of years ago. They are gone now and I am not planting a garden next year.
