If variants continue to become less deadly I guess we can learn to live with them as the surges trend downward. Not ideal, but at least less alarming and stressful than worrying about whether we will be on a vent tomorrow and unable to sip our Folgers and eat our Cheerios.

As with many viruses, as they mutate, they become less lethal and easier to combat. I think this is where the common cold probably originated from, some long ago lethal virus that finally mutated itself into noting more than a PIA. Hopefully, Covid will go the same route.
