Corner, I tottally agree with you that the council and mayor should do what we elect them to do.. but our mayor won't make a vote b/c he doesn't want to be un popular. I think with him it is about a popularity contest, he told the PBA (rumor has it) that he wouldn't enforce the residency rule, that is what i was told, so of course he doesn't want to look like the bad guy, and he doesn't want uticans to get mad at him.. So I am glad us voters can vote since we dont' care about popularity

the new law the way it will be written calls for the grandfathering of all current employees. so in effect a vote one way or the other will only affect future hires...who can get around the law by putting down a relatives address and collecting mail there the whole thing will be an exercise in futility..lets make the mayor and his cronies one termers folks..

... It should make no difference it they are ... a registered libertarian Careful, Clipper. You wouldn't want frackcor on the UPD. Or me, for that matter, even though I'm only an acolyte Libertarian so far. If you had an emergency and Frank and I showed up in a squad car, I can't imagine what you would think.

Dave, that picture is great! Corner, I know they can lie, and most of them probably will, but they have been doing that forever, I don't know it probably wont end up going through, i just feel that they should live in Utica, my fiance and me totally disagree on this issue. I guess we all just have to wait and see.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the desire to have city employees live in their city is based on the following logic: They should live in the city so they pay property tax back to the city. I'm not familiar with property values and tax rates in Utica, but what are we talking in "lost revenue" if an employee lives outside the city? $2000 a year? That seems like a pretty petty reason.

Well I live in Utica and my taxes are 3900 a year. so if they lived in utica say 25 employees and their taxes were say 3300.00 a year. That is with star... 82,500 a yr the city gets ... I am for it and against it at the same time.
Thanks clipper... lol

lilbump, it's still not compelling logic. Some of that tax money goes to the county and some to the school district, right?
Would you also require that city employees must make all their purchases in the city in order to capitalize on their sales tax too?

No because we do not have many places to shop in Utica, however like i said, i am for it but yet against it at the same time.... we wouldnt even have to have this discussion if Roefaro would do his job.... and just make a decision....
