HOT CHOCOLATE THE GERMAN WAY – THE REAL THING Ingredients Hot Chocolate 250 ml milk 150 ml heavy cream 75 g chocolate, semi-sweet, chopped 1 vanilla bean or 2 tsp natural vanilla extract 2 tsp sugar cocoa powder or some grated chocolate whipped cream Cooking Instructions Hot Chocolate – Combine milk, heavy cream, chocolate, vanilla and sugar in a pot. – Use low heat to warm the mix and stir so it won’t burn or stick on the bottom. – The chocolate should be melted completely and consistency should be creamy. It should be very hot! – Fill in cups or glasses. – Squirt some whipped cream on top and sprinkle it with cocoa or grated chocolate. TIPS Alternatively to semisweet chocolate use sweet one but no additional sugar Instead of sugar use 1 package Vanilla sugar. Add a shot rum or brandy. Spice it up with cinnamon, cardamom and some pumpkin spice. Be careful! Sounds great. A bit more work than I care to do but it sounds delicious. I don't drink hot chocolate often and when I do I just make it with whole milk and a packet of Swiss Miss with mini marshmallows. I guess I am just a black coffee addict and not into sweet stuff.

Although I'm a chocoholic, black coffee is my addictive daily drug of choice. The hot chocolate bug never bit me, even on cold winter days after snow-blowing.

Like I said I haven't had that in a long time. I think back when I was a teen or twenty something. I like chocolate and buy the dark variety Russell Stover sugar free. It is actually excellent in taste and better than the sugared variety. Both the solid dark and the Peanut Butter variety are exellent and only ones I eat.

It is actually excellent in taste and better than the sugared variety. Both the solid dark and the Peanut Butter variety are exellent and only ones I eat. Kathy is a chocoholic. She loves milk chocolate as well as dark chocolate. I fill her stocking with Lindor Truffles and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
