I can understand saving addicts lives from overdose deaths but THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO GO ABOUT DOING IT. This just prolongs and compounds the problem. NEW YORK CITY OPENS FIRST AUTHORIZED SAFE SITES FOR DRUG USE
New York City says the first officially authorized safe havens for people to use heroin and other narcotics have been cleared to open in the city in hopes of curbing overdoses. Posted: Nov 30, 2021 10:56 AM Posted By: Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) - New York City says the first officially authorized safe havens for people to use heroin and other narcotics have been cleared to open in the city in hopes of curbing overdoses. The city is calling them “overdose prevention centers,” but such facilities are also known as supervised injection sites. They have been discussed for years in New York and some other U.S. cities and already exist in Canada, Australia and Europe. Proponents say the facilities save lives. Opponents say they essentially sanction people harming themselves. Federal law bans operating a place for narcotics use. www.wktv.com/content/news/New-York-City-opens-first-authorized-safe-sites-for-drug-use-575834401.htmlThis legalizes the use of heroin and other highly addicted opiates.

I can't help but shake my head, not so much in surprise, but in disgust. We had one "die" in our apparel department a month ago. When the paramedics arrived, it took five shots of narcan to bring him around. And it happens in the parking lot about once a month. We find needles in the bathrooms all the time. Now, they give them a safe place to consume their illegal drugs?!?!? ?

I do not get it either Ralph. This is not the way to go about ridding society of hard core opiate use. I see needles and small baggies that held cocaine and crack all the time in Chancellor Park and along the streets going up Bleecker St to Genesee St. I never knew why all these small baggies were all over the ground until I was walking with a crack addict in recovery and asked. Also all along Genesee St as well as Liberty Bell Park. When walked along Rutger Street especially around the streets around The Mission needles were all over the place. If I was walking along with a drug addict in recovery if we approached something like that they would always try to shield the view because to the strong impact it can make on recovery.
