Antiviral pill cuts COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths by 89%, Pfizer says
By Yasemin Saplakoglu about 3 hours ago Pfizer plans to submit the data to the FDA for emergency approval "as soon as possible" and has stopped enrolling for its clinical trial following strong positive results. A new COVID-19 pill cuts the risk of hospitalization or death by 89% when taken within three days of symptom onset, Pfizer recently announced. The antiviral pill, PAXLOVID, was given in a placebo-controlled clinical trial to people with COVID-19 who were at high risk of developing severe disease. The pill works by inhibiting an enzyme called a protease, which the virus SARS-CoV-2 needs to keep replicating. The drug was so clearly effective that an independent data monitoring committee recommended the trial be stopped so that people in the placebo-arm of the trial could receive the drug. Pfizer plans to submit the data to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for emergency use authorization "as soon as possible," according to a statement from the company www.livescience.com/covid-19-antiviral-pill-pfizer-significantly-reduces-hospitalizations-deaths?utm_source=SmartBrief&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=368B3745-DDE0-4A69-A2E8-62503D85375D&utm_content=5B083573-E465-427E-8819-CF16CDA4FDE7&utm_term=d17dd51c-a273-43ba-bad1-77888b2f2627What a salvation this would bring on all fronts. Of course now we will have people who don't like pills for one reason or the other or government interference in their precious little lives that they live in some sort of bubble so as not to be a source of infection to others. It would make an interesting lawsuit if some vaccinated person caught COVID from a non vaccinated person now that mandates are in place. I'd try it for sure.

The mRNA treatments were advertised to do the same. We see how that's worked out.

I'd try it for sure. 90% of the people dying from Covid & filling up hospital beds are unvaxxed. Not working out too well for them. I don't know one person who has caught covid after being vaxxed & I know plenty. And no doubt the crybaby crowd will find an excuse not to take this pill.

I know a FEW people who have become infected after being vaccinated. Kathy almost died from break through covid but they say that the thing that saved her was the fact that between her natural immunity and the vaccination, she was able to be turned around fairly quickly.

The County has been listing COVID deaths an yes there are some that are vaxed and catching COVID Delta all over again. I noticed more in the elderly age group. I have to check next time and copy and paste them here.
One of the big arguments against the vaccine or pill is that well even if vaccinated you can still catch the virus. You can't win with these type people so better to not waste your time trying.

I didn't know that the health dept. revealed that people who died from Covid were vaxxed or not & what age they were.
Patient care is going to suffer because people who refuse to get the vax are going to lose their jobs. Somebody is going to die in a local hospital because they couldn't get the proper care & blood will be on the hands of those who put politics over doing their jobs which is to care for the sick.
Stay healthy & do everything you can to avoid the MVHS.

New safety grades show how NY hospitals performed before, during COVID-19 pandemic David Robinson New York State Team New York hospitals received mixed safety grades from a consumer watchdog group that analyzed conditions before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Only 12 hospitals statewide, or 8%, received the highest A safety grade from Leapfrog, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit, while 43 hospitals received the second-lowest D grade. Just three hospitals received an F. The review looked at a variety of serious health-related issues, from infectious-disease prevention measures to surgical errors. It included a new analysis of post-operative sepsis, which results in suffering, disability, and sometimes death for an estimated 160,000 people a year nationally, the group noted, adding Black people are twice as likely as white people to be diagnosed with sepsis. “As the pandemic continues, we all have heightened awareness of the importance of hospitals in our communities and in our lives,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It is critical that all hospitals put patient safety first.” New York state overall ranked 47th worst in the country in terms of hospital safety, according to Leapfrog's latest safety grades, which was down from 46th worst in the group’s spring ranking.
