www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/this-older-covid-19-variant-has-a-dangerous-mutation/ar-AAQ4NWJ?ocid=msedgntpEvery day there is some new and frightening development in what scientists have learned about the virus and its variants. It simply lurks ever present in our minds, tending to dampen any thoughts that we might return to the old and accepted "normal" anytime soon. The thing I find most unsettling is the fact that many people have simply put precautions aside and are not only against vaccination, but also are no longer wearing masks or paying any attention to distancing guidance or any other suggestions that MAY possibly be effective in limiting the spread. Some businesses have slacked off on offering sanitizing stations at the entrance to their stores. Food City still has a table at inside the entrance with a spray bottle of sanitizing solution to spray the handle on the cart, a bottle of hand sanitizer, and a box of masks for those that don't have one while at the other end of the precaution spectrum Kroger has done away completely with any sanitizing items or masks available at the door. I carry my hand sanitizer in my pocket and I squirt some on my hands and rub it on the handle of the cart. I am not an extreme germaphobe but I do seem to have developed a thing about door and shopping cart handles. Kathy says I have been watching Howie Mandel to much. Do the stores in your area still offer sanitizing products at their entrance and is mask use still widespread and enforced? It was pretty widespread here not too long ago, but it was suggested, not required, and was never enforced. Now those of us who still wear a mask to shop are a minority.

Same is going on here plus more and more people are NOT wearing masks on the Bus . Masks are still mandatory by the CDC at all transportation Hubs and Buses. Drivers say nothing. I think they don't want any confrontation. They know the people they can remind or turn away without a fight.

People here in the South seem to be a bit more independent and reluctant to allow too much government interference in their lives. Mandate is a cuss word in Tennessee. Even when everything was shut down and restricted, masks were never mandated by businesses. Masks were simply recommended and MOST people were alarmed enough by the virus to comply with the recommendations. Those that are adamantly opposed to the vaccines and vaccination continue to wallow in ignorance and continue to die with that "nobody is going to tell me what to do" attitude continue to increase the risk to others, and keep the number of infections and deaths higher than necessary. Numbers are slowly declining here, but no where near as rapidly as the increase in cases and deaths was in recent months. Any decline brings hope, but we are a long way from dancing in the streets because the virus in under control and a minimal danger to the general public.

A couple months ago I had to take Centro to pick up my truck at the repair shop at least 3 times. The other half either had to work when the truck was done & one time her car was in another shop for repairs. So, I took Centro to the hub, got a transfer & rode to the shop. Not once did I see a bus rider not wearing a mask & on one occasion the driver told a guy to put on a mask or he can't get on. My experience was that the mask mandate on Centro IS enforced.

Around here the only place where mask are required & enforced are health care facilities, including dentists & labs & Centro busses. An aquaintence of our family had a bad case of Covid last summer & nearly died from it. It's almost November & her sense of smell still has not returned & she still has shortness of breath. It's nothing to toy with. We will never be over this thing until people wise up & stop listening to politicians & self serving right wing personalities masquerading as journalists on Fox News, Newsmax & hacks doing Podcasts.

We will get over it faster if politics could be left out of it. It is not a right wing/ left wing thing. Just sayin. There are just as many ignorant democrats and left wingers out there as there are right wingers. When you track only one side of the issue, you only get a one sided and inaccurate perception and half the facts.
If one wants to place blame there is plenty to be attributed to Biden's refusal to close the border and his insistence on mandating the vaccine for American citizens and letting unvetted and oft infected illegal immigrants into the country and then dispersing them all over the damned country. Blame can no longer be placed solely and unjustifiably on Trump or on Republicans.

Like I said some drivers enforce the rule I think I know the driver of the Bus u were on he is good at that. Some female ones are also good at that. Today on mu Bus two did not wear masks and nothing was said. Who knows what is going on One thing I know if a Bus I am riding has a person who is constantly coughing I get a chill right up my back.
