When I went outside this afternoon for some errands Bleecker St and First St had several police cars as well as an ambulance. I asked the policeman if there had been another shooting and he said no a man was hit by a car trying to cross Bleecker St at that corner.
After shopping at grocery store a man who I know came up to me to also board the Bus. I said hello as always and then he said Oh boy I was hit by a car on Bleecker St. I said my God that was you. His name is George in late 70's. Nose and arm was scratched and he said his legs were both scratched. Imagine a hit and run. He tried getting the license number but when he landed on the ground his lenses for his glasses popped up. I asked him if he went to the hospital with that ambulance but he refused and cleaned up at home. He and I wasn't sure but if an ambulance transports a person like that from an accident to the hospital who pays for the ambulance? Also wondered. He did not know either.
Bleecker St at certain times has become a free for all with drivers. Many ignore the stop signs and traffic lights. I told him to be very cautious crossing the street on John St and Bleecker St. The button you press to allow a person to cross works ok but make sure no one is attempting a right turn on the red light. Reason they do not stop first. Just plow through the light ...
I hope George will be ok he was shaken up and I wish he had gone to hospital. He said to me ya know I always pray to St Christopher every night for safety in my travels the next day. He said wait to I get home I going to tell St Christopher off for not being on the job!!!!! Now that would make a perfect prayer.....
