My new desktop came with a trial Norton program on it that expired today. It also has the Windows security installed. Is the Windows security program adequate and dependable or do I need to buy the Norton?

I use the free version of Avast and have never had a problem. Once I clicked on a website that must have had something on it and bam the Avast security bells and whistle's went off and cleared up a potential problem. I did buy the other edition and found that for my use the free antivirus Avast was best.
PS. I also run the windows defender that came with this laptop and was told that was not enough

I have this program that came already installed: I think it is a free version of AVG. Microsoft recommends that you don't run more than one antivirus program at the same time. I guess Acer doesn't subscribe to that theory. Best Buy says I don't need Norton and Ralph suggested that I download Avast free version. Ralph has never led me astray and I have more faith in him than it anyone that calls themselves Geek Squad, haha.

Our desktop was acting up again. It's a Dell so I reset it back to factory settings, which included Mcafee. I removed that right off the bat as I had it before & caused nothing but issues. I signed up for Norton at $26 for a years subscription. I had Avast free edition which worked well but the constant pop ups asking me to upgrade was too much for me so I finally had enough & got rid of it.
