Is Governor Hochul shooting herself in the foot with the stringent mandates for healthcare workers? Interesting question when hospitals are filled to or beyond their normal limits and are already understaffed. No option for frequent testing?

Is it fair to supplement staff with national guard troops. Is it fair to the troops that will be taken from their civilian jobs, and forced to put their families at increased risk while they are assigned to care for Covid patients for their military wage which is much lower than their civilian pay?

Here is the story of a long time healthcare worker that has decided to step back rather than to be vaccinated.

All is fair in love and war! I agree with the mandates. As far as I am concerned anyone in healthcare who is NOT vaccinated must be fired! She is giving them an option to return to work without loosing seniority or salary. That I do not agree with. Let them start over again just as if it is there first time working there. No mercy from me!

There are mandates in place for nursing home staff in places but it is mandated by the employer, not government.

Cuomo ordered that health care workers be vaccinated. Hochul is following up with his order. Just saying

NG troops would not have to leave their civilian jobs if those workers simpy followed the mandates. Like everything else in life, they have a choice. Either get the shot, or hit the road. It's as simple as that. There isn't an employer in this Country that doesn't have terms of employment. These health care facilities are expecting their employees to follow state mandates for health care workers which the state has ordered these facilities to comply with. Period.

Some of these same people who blasted Cuomo over nursing home COVID deaths are the same ones who won't get the vaccine. And I like how all of a sudden thousands of health care workers have all of a sudden found religion & are using it as an excuse to weasel out of getting the shot. Gee, I never knew that we had so many Christian Scientists in our midst. And if so, what are they doing working in health care facilities?

I have read enough to know that the risks associated with this vaccine are minimal compared to the risks of the virus. I also know that a person with no or minimal symptoms can transmit Covid to others. This person does not belong in nursing.
