www.wktv.com/content/news/Mug-Club-Otter-Lake-Firehouse-Steak-Bake-Fundraiser--Truck-Raffle-575236061.htmlMight be worth the Sunday ride to have a reasonably priced steak dinner along with entertainment and a chance to win a $42,000 pickup truck. It is an event that I attended several times over the years, and I bought the raffle tickets for the pickup every year for several years. Do they still sell 100 dollar tickets for a house give away? We used to buy one of those every year too. I just bought a $100 ticket the other day for a local raffle with $350,000 worth of prizes that include a GMC truck, a Honda Civic, an Indian motorcycle, a pontoon boat, a jet ski, a paid vacation somewhere, and a bunch of cash prizes. They draw a prize every five minutes until they are gone with the truck being the grand prize. It benefits the Birth of Country Music museum here in town. If I am not on here on the 12th I will be out cruising in my new truck or cruising on the lake on our new pontoon boat.

I remember one time years ago there was a big controversy because if I remember correctly, the contractor's mother or someone in the close family won the house. I could be wrong about who it was that won.

I wonder if the winner has to pay taxes on that $100k. I believe the winner can opt to take a cash payout.

You KNOW that NY state isn't going to let a buck's worth of tax go by, much less the tax on 100K, and then there will be the federal tax. They won't cut them no slack either.
If I were to win the pickup truck in our local raffle I will gladly pay the sales tax when I go to register it.
