www.uticaod.com/story/news/local/2021/08/19/heavy-rain-flooding-western-whitesboro-high-alert/8191606002/The residents of Westernville just can't catch a break. First the tornado, then the poor folks whose roofs were damage or blown off, they endured torrential rains, and now potential flooding to add to the misery. Those poor folks that are living in the Sauquoit Creek flood prone area of Whitesboro are bracing for yet another potential flood. I have no idea how that situation could be remedied without cutting off the main line rail line to allow free flow to the river flats and that is not going to happen. It seems that no matter what other precautions are taken, and how much work they do on the creek bed, the RR bridge will still be a choke point for debris.

I saw Nine Mile Creek this morning & it had topped the banks down near where it empties into the canal in Marcy.

Have any of you had any damage from flooding? I can't believe how bad it got in Rome, Western and Lee Center last night. Someone on FB was saying this morning that the holding ponds at the fish hatchery were flooded out and the fish were washed downstream into the river.
Where was the flooding and submerged cars on the arterial? I thought they had remedied that drainage problem. How about the Harbor Point area, Leland and Wurz Ave in N Utica?

No flooding in Whitesboro but Mohawk St between Marcy & Whitesboro is closed. Rome really got hammered as the Mohawk River & Erie Canal are now one body of water. Wurz & Leland Ave are under water.
Now they're looking at hurricane Henri which may impact us early next week. Yep, the old hits just keep on a coming! The temps are only in the 70's but the dew point is so high that running the a.c. is a must.

And what a time to develop A/C problems. I think it is the thermostat since if I place the temp for 75 degrees the unit will not shut off. I put it on 77 and the unit turned off. I'll try 76 and see what happens. I called this morning but as usual no one shows up to do anything. With one electrician this could take till November.
Wurz Ave is really flooded. Buses were unable to get down there I saw the fire department truck heading down there as I passed on Genesee St.
Rain and who knows what all next week. The Mohawk River is really high. I never saw it that high and I wonder in North Genesee will become flooded.

UTICA, N.Y. – The City of Utica is monitoring the Mohawk River water levels as the New York State Canal Corporation works to mitigate flooding in the aftermath of heavy rains across the region. While the conditions at Delta Reservoir are improving, Wurz Avenue was blocked at North Genesee Street Friday morning due to flooding. The water levels are still rising, but at a slower pace than expected. City officials say the water levels will crest between noon and 6 p.m. Friday, and will continue to impact Wurz Avenue as well as North Genesee Street, Leland Avenue and other low-lying areas flowing east to the river. Road closures are expected around that area of North Utica until at least Saturday and possibly early Sunday, as the water levels gradually become lower. Drivers are advised to use caution and pay attention to road signs as some traffic patterns may change temporarily. www.wktv.com/content/news/City-of-Utica-braces-for-more-flooding-as-Mohawk-River-levels-slowly-rise-575137931.htmlNews @ just said the Harbor Point are is taking on heavy flooding and someone is driving with water up to the passenger window.

I stopped at Dollar General on Oriskany Blvd the day before yesterday & when I got out of my truck the sewers or whatever smelled so bad I almost lost my lunch. I don't know how people who live in that area can stand it.
Th temps all next week right up until Saturday will be in the upper 80's & humid.

Welcome to global warming and this area is expected to get even warmer! If the glacier's continue to melt we may just lose Manhattan and poor Florida that State will be under 2 inches of water. Those crocs will have a ball.

Manhattan won't be any big loss but I don't know if the country can live without Orlando and the amusement parks, and Cape Kennedy would have to be moved to Savanna.
