PRICES AT THE PUMP UP 11 CENTS FROM THIS TIME LAST MONTH Gas prices in and around Utica are 2 cents more on average than they were last week, according to AAA. The average price is sitting around $3.21, which is 6 cents higher than the state average. Since this time last month, the average in the Utica area has gone up 11 cents. AAA officials say it is typical to see gas prices increase ahead of a holiday, but the prices at the pump haven’t been this high at this time of year since 2014. The national average as of Monday was $3.09. www.wktv.com/content/news/Prices-at-the-pump-up-11-cents-from-this-time-last-month-574726631.html

AAA should do an investigation of why these prices are so high instead of the usual boilerplate statement how gas prices go up every summer. We already know that. There's no shortage of gas & nobody is being turned away at the pump that I know of. If this keeps up we'll be paying $4/gallon by Labor Day & AAA will again inform us that prices go up every year around that holiday. Thanks ahead AAA, for reminding us of that.

I thought OPEC was limiting supply. That is the last I heard. Apparently less gas was used during the pandemic so less was produced. Now with high demand so suddenly increasing supply cannot keep up.

It is sad that we are once more dependent on foreign oil. Green energy is fine and we need to cut down on fossil fuel use but the drastic attack on the oil industry is criminal. The jobs, the effects on prices, and businesses that use fuel is tragic.
Still able to get gas for $2.79 here in Bristol and cheaper with a rewards discount card. I have the points accumulated to fill up tomorrow for the first leg of our vacation trip for $2.59 with the 20 cents off at the pump.

Several reports today on shortages of tanker truck drivers. The Biden admin has taken actions which will affect supplies in the future: restricting permits on federal lands, ending the Keystone XL, reviews on permits for lines to replace ageing lines: one in Minnesota, one into Michigan. Both of those are leaks waiting to happen and will result in major environmental disasters when they happen. I think the people who drive to those places to protest (which often results in damage to construction equipment) should be required to walk home.
