I had to take Kathy to the doctor this morning, came home and washed the truck, than at 2 pm I will be head to my workout at cardiac rehab, then to take Kathy to the hair dresser at 4:30. I might get to rest for an hour before we go bowling tonight. I can't complain too much. A busy day passes faster than when I have nothing to do.
Last sunny day until Sunday. Tomorrow we will be getting some much needed rain and it will continue through Saturday. It has been very dry here along with the high temperatures and sunny days. I will get a day or two of rest from working in the garden and outside chores.
I hope everyone escaped any damage from the strong storms that went through the CNY area yesterday. I was reading this morning about all the power outages and downed trees.

Beautiful sunny day today. I am working in the garden. I am in the process of tilling in a few bags of processed organic cow manure. I was very surprised. Even when it is wet it has no manure odor. It smells like rich loamy soil. We will see how it works as a fertilizer.

Good luck. Yes nice day but for some reason I slept to 11:05AM today ( Tuesday ) and was out of the house at 11:25AM and on the Bus to Slocum Dickson by noon. Blood work and they messed something up about two tests so they asked me to wait around. I said HELL NO it is a beautiful day do what ya have to do and I will return when it is raining. LOL
I did buy a Utica Coffee up there in the little café at $2.78 big cup too so I could WAKE THE HELL UP! Then went outside in the full sun and stood in the sun for 45 minutes for next Bus. LOL Then I traveled to my favorite store of all stores I missed it because of yesterday.
If I do not get to my fav store once a day I feel so down.

I stopped at Marcy Greenhouse today to pick up some flowers to put in our planters out on our deck. I spied some watermelon seedlings so I figured what the hell, for 2.00 I'll give them a shot. Got the tiller out & went at it. I planted them out back where I cleared out the jungle left by the knucklehead who lives behind us. Got 6 plants in. Got them in just in time as it looks like a heat wave is headed our way this weekend with temps close to 90 & humid.

I grew them one year when living in Eureka, Missouri when I was at the Novitiate House of Studies. Do those things grow and what a yield. If you get a lot juice some and freeze for later use, excellent. dreenaburton.com/2-ingredient-watermelon-gelato/

We'll see what we end up with & maybe give it a shot. Where would one find coconut nectar? I've never heard of it.

Hot and humid here today. I see that Utica and Bristol both have 84 degrees. I mowed with the tractor and when I went to start the push mower to trim it wouldn't start. I had put the last bit of gas from my can into the tractor and the push mower was bone dry. I loaned it to my neighbor the other day because his was in the shop. He saw me pouring gas into to it and came over all embarrassed and apologetic. He said he meant to fill it and got called away. He is a paramedic. When he got back from his call he forgot to gas it up and just brought it back and put it in my garage. We got a chuckle out of it. He just kept saying how sorry he was, and I kiddingly said not to worry that I raised three boys who drove my cars at one time or another, and ALWAYS brought them back empty. Today he has my table saw and a level. He is putting down laminate flooring. The kid just bought the house and moved from an apartment complex where he didn't have to do any of the lawn maintenance. He bought a tractor but says he has to wait until payday to buy a push mower. He said the shop told him that his was not worth fixing. It was one that he bought at a garage sale and mowed once with. The shaft is bent where someone hit something with it. He is a nice kid. He is a paramedic and his wife is an RN. I told him that any time he needed any tools or whatever to just come and get them. The only restriction is that they need to go back where he found them when he is done with them. He bought the house from his dad. His dad has been a good neighbor for the 22 yrs we have lived here. He remarried and moved to his new wife's house.

Beautiful day in the neighborhood. Table saw came back home this morning before the neighbor went to work. I have already been working in the garden. I was up at 6:30 and out in the garden replacing a pepper plant that didn't make it. Watered the garden and pulled a few weeds. It is already 75 degrees and going up with a high expected to be about 83. Humidity is at 75% and we are looking at 60% chance of afternoon showers.
It looks like you in CNY are looking at 91 for a high with chance of thunderstorms. Strange how it has been hotter there than in the South quite often lately.
Going to be a bit sticky for working outside today. Now that the saw is back home I will spend part of the day building a plywood box to keep the cover for the motorhome in. We get an occasional mouse in the garage and I certainly don't want one to nibble or nest in the cover. They cost in excess $400. The one we have was included for free with all the other goodies that the guy gave us with the motorhome.

We havve 88 here on the deck, sunny & humid. The watermelon plants didn't make it. I went out this morning to check on them & they were laying on the ground. Don't know why, maybe transplant shock? Anyway I went to a Schuler Greenhouse & bought & bought another tray with 6 plants & transplanted them. The plants look a lot healthier then the other ones, so we'll see. Not giving up yet.

Is the Schuyler green house you go to Juliano's. I knew Joey's father when he worked at the base in roads and grounds as an equipment operator, and Joey used to work there in the winter when they hired temporary employees to plow snow. I always patronized their produce stand when they used to set up in the Big Lots parking lot in N. Utica behind Burger King. A great family.
I went to Lowes to buy 4 8ft two by fours. I ended up buying 2x3's for $5.69 apiece because the 2x4's were so damned expensive. Lowe's 2x4's that were anywhere from 4 to 6 bucks depending on grade a year ago are now almost 10 bucks. I didn't need high quality lumber to frame the box for the motorhome cover. Thank goodness I already had some 2x4's and 2x6's on my lumber rack in the shop, and a 4'x10" sheet of thin Luan plywood that I brought down from my dad's house when he moved in with us after mom died. That was in 2004 and it had been standing along the wall behind the freezer and a tool cabinet. I can't even imagine what plywood must cost now with the lumber prices going crazy. We had about a 15 minute cloud burst than came down so hard I could hardly see across the street and some pretty nasty winds with it. The rain was coming almost horizontal enough that I had to close the shop doors because it was blowing in even though the doors are under a carport and normally sheltered.
Sorry about your melon plants BHU. I never have had any luck with watermelons. If I get them to grow at all the yield is usually pretty small and the size of the melons that they produce are very small. I guess our soil is not conducive to melon growing. It is funny because squash and cucumber vines thrive. I plant six hills of butternut squash and often get 3 or more heaping wheel barrow loads for Kathy to prep for the freezer with plenty left to give away.

I planted watermelon a few years ago & didn't have much luck. I think I got one melon. But, it was partly my own fault cuz I didn't really take care of the plants. I haven't bought any lumber recently but I do need 2-3 2x6 deck boards. Lowe's wants $18.00 for a ptl 10ftr. They can keep it. The boards butt up against the house where nobody walks so the hell with it until the price drops. They're not punky just have a slight twist in them. I pity people who need a new roof or are doing a remod.

I was telling my son about my trip to Lowes. He was telling me that he is going to make Adirondack chairs for each of my 4 great grand kids. He is making them out of cedar. I don't want to see the bill for that project. He says he recently bought 4 10 foot treated 2x4's for some project he was doing and paid $175.

I finished the coffin for the motorhome cover this afternoon, put casters on it, loaded the cover into it, sealed the top with a plywood cover held in place with deck screws, and wheeled it to the back of the garage.
