I love the old fashioned style oatmeal with cooked raisins. I simmer the raisins for 10 or 15 minutes until they steep and plump up. I then add more water and start adding the oats. When I get what looks to be the right oats to water ratio I add a splash of vanilla extract, some cinnamon sugar mixture, and I cook them slowly until nice and creamy.
Where my way to enjoy my oatmeal differs from most is that I prefer it without milk. I like it with a generous pat of real butter and a couple tablespoons of brown sugar. The butter brings a creamy richness to the dish. Give it a try. It is sweet, creamy, and yummy. Great way to warm a hungry belly and put a smile on your face.

Sounds tasty and I bet it is very good but I am not a fan of oatmeal or raisins. I never cared for cereals of any sort especially granola, ie: concrete mix.

I am not a fan of granola either. Most granola reminds me of the texture of gravel. Some things are just so nutritious and healthy that they are disgusting. I love warm cereal whether it be oatmeal, cream of wheat, or boxed dry cereal heated in milk. I like the old fashioned large biscuit shredded wheat with milk, sprinkled with sugar and heated for two minutes in the microwave. I am a big cereal fan. Especially since I gave up greasy breakfasts such as biscuits with sausage gravy and eggs. ;0

Not a granola fan here. I enjoy a bowl of corn flakes with some dried cranberries, a little sugar with ice cold milk or a sliced bananas. I can't do warm milk. No way. Lol

One of my nephews likes oatmeal. He puts peanut butter in it along with protein powder and blueberries or strawberries and whips it up in a blender. . Imagine drinking that. He also likes that with a side of bacon. He plays football and baseball for high school. The new sports drink I guess.
