Personally, there was absolutely NO REASON WHATSOEVER for WKTV to go into any detail, other than a sexual assult happened. All they wanted was Eyeballs on the page and judging from the type and amount of comments they received, they got it. There was also a comment there from some other nut who says that all men think about lewd acts in elevators with women. Of course they do, he thinks that we as women all know this. This is disgusting and a gross violation's of the assult survivor's personal integrity and privacy rights. There was even no reason to put the address. All of this is TMI ( too much information) and may very well compromise the victim's privacy and identity. I think we all know exactly what constitutes a "lewd act" without going into detail and being forced to read a step by step replay. WKTV panders to the lowest common denominator of reporting and readership. It is the Utica OD of the internet, a total waste of my time. I am done with their shit and shineola. |

I disagree Artsy. I agree that WKTV most likely was using the graphic description of the assault to draw people to the report, but in the other hand I can see where it is a very real warning to women that live there, and the address alerts them to the danger. This was an act that goes way beyond the average relatively benign flasher in a trench coat.
It seems that most of those types of housing for seniors and low income folks have become infested with two legged cockroaches such this pervert and others, such as Pizza has described so frequently. I remember many years ago when CNY Coach lines had the price chopper buses, I helped elderly folks carry their groceries to their door a few times and it was a pleasant and clean place to live back then.

Thank you. I respect your right to disagree, but I also have to say that survivors of sexual assults, which this was, have a mandated and moral right to their privacy. The news gave too much away, thereby compromising the personal integrity and well being of the woman. Those buildings are just gossip hives where everyone knows everyone and nothing is secret. Unless you are a victim of sexual assult you will never understand the need for privacy. Also, WKTV described perfectly what was obviously masturbation. There was no need to do that. What if the perp had forced the woman to put her mouth you know where...would they describe that to, by saying...she was forced to put her mouth on his junk? I don't think so. The reporters are not stupid...they went as far as they could in exploiting the story to gain eyeballs, and they knew it. I have no love or respect for WKTV, most of the people who comment on there are morons. They totally compromised the survivor and that is disgusting as well as dangerous, not only for the woman, but for all women and or disabled persons who live there. A woman could as well assult a man in the elevator, if the building has open access, what's stopping them?

There was no need to go into detail over what happened to that poor woman, but that's how WKTV rolls. There's a certain newscaster on there who's a drama queen doing the evening news so I don't watch anymore during the weekly newscast. Just too much for me. Another thing that makes my blood boil is when they cover the opiod crisis they never fail to show users sticking needles into their arms. They do it every single time. I attribute what they do to a combination of seeking shock value from viewers & just downright stupidity. I've called up there & read them the riot act over that crap but it does no good so the hell with 'em. |

I agree. The Hell with their crap. This was just over the top. Thanks muchly for your comment. Your comments are always timely and well thought out. Now this woman will have to go to court, and next she may need counseling and an assinged court advocate from Domestic Violence at the YWCA. Furthermore, if she is in group counseling, she will have no anominity, which is possibly the worst thing that can happen. WKTV sucks and they could give a hairy rat's patoot about this woman, as long as they get the eye balls on the page.
