Beautiful sunny day in the 70's to drive to the VA for my 2nd Moderna shot and to visit my friend John's grave. I always stop by and say a prayer when I am in Johnson City. Fingers crossed that I don't have any after effects other than the slightly sore arm and short lived headache that I had after the first injection.

I get my second shot on Easter Sunday.

I had no significant effects after my first shot of Moderna, however, after my second shot I had symptoms of what resembled a 24 hour flu. No fever, but, shortness of breath, stuffy nose and muscle aches. This all started the day after I had the shot. After a good nights' sleep, the symptoms were gone!

I can handle all those symptoms but I hope I don't experience the shortness of breath. Between my heart attack and having covid I freak out a bit if I get short of breath. I have never experienced anything that frightened me more than not being able to catch my breath. Thankfully when I had covid the shortness of breath was not that bad and only lasted for a short time.

I attribute the shortness of breath to the fact that, especially while trying to sleep, my nose was stuffed up, restricting my breathing.

I hope you have fewer after effects from the second shot Artsy. I guess even with all those symptoms is beats the hell out of getting the virus. I hope I don't get the first two you mentioned, and I certainly hope that you don't experience a repeat performance either.
So far so good. I will hope that I feel this well when I awake tomorrow morning. The sore arm is no biggy, nor was the short term headache I had after the first dose. I have suffered the long term fatigue ever since I had the virus but it is not debilitating to the point of slowing me down. I just have to exert a little bit of extra effort to get motivated. Once I am out and about I feel fine.

We are all in this together and we all rise together or we drown . I choose to rise because, for one fact, it is my duty as an American to live in a civil society, and to assist others to make it so.

I agree. Just an update, but I felt a little fatigued and had a stuffy nose last night, but this morning I awoke refreshed and feeling no effects whatsoever other than a tenderness at the injection site.
Now if it wasn't for a torrential rain I would get out and do something productive. It is going to be a dull day for this outside person. I may escape to the woodshop later for a couple hours just to maintain my sanity. Kathy is sewing today. She makes bowling ball carriers. She cuts two basket shaped pieces of fabric, lines them with flannel, and sews them together to form pouch with handles to carry a bowling ball from locker to lanes. With the flannel lining a person can see-saw the handles up and down and it rolls the ball around inside the pouch and polishes ball and removes the lane dressing oil. She says just a half dozen more and she will have gifted the entire league with at least one.
I will probably occupy myself with changing the oil in the push mower and tiller, sharpen my chainsaw chains, and possibly throw a coat of wax on the lawn tractor, blow the sawdust out of all the power saws, and sweep the floor. Just busy work and relaxation. Turn up the country tunes and git'r done. I just enjoy closing the outside world outside the door, occupying my mind, and avoiding just sitting in front of this screen or the boob tube, accomplishing absolutely nothing of substance.
Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts before that drop in temperature and accumulating snow that appears to be in your near future. Stay well, stay safe, and enjoy the day.

we are expecting a big old snow later today and tomorrow. I am trying to get things done before it sets in. I went out today and bought all the Easter candy, did the groceries: I went to YBG and bought a beautiful small water melon from Mexico for $1.99 and 8 lbs of raw shrimp for $16.00, the giant ones. Plus 8 lbs of Deano's sweet Italian sausage for the freezer. If you had a YBG where you are you would have to buy Cathy an extra fridge and freezer!!

Headed out bright & early to SUNY POLY this a.m. for my 2nd Pfizer shot & was processed, vaccinated & out of there by 0900. The nurse who gave me the shot was a real pro & I barely felt the stick. My upper arm was a little sore a short time after but a couple Tylenol took care of that. The guy who checked my ID & card said there are people showing up from out of town & are attempting to mix the Pfizer vaccine with Moderna which isn't supposed to be done & isn't even administered at SUNY. So they're checking ID's & first dose cards to head them off. Everybody has an angle.
Happy Easter to all.

Glad to hear it BHU. I don't know about you, but I found it a great relief to be vaccinated and assumed fairly safe and immune at least for the foreseeable future. After watching what Kathy went through and almost losing her, I really fear the virus and pray for anyone that is unfortunate enough to contract it.
I will not rest any easier until Kathy is vaccinated. Her doctor wasn't recommending she get it until 6 months after her diagnosis, mainly because he theorizes that she has a strong immunity as a result of how severe her case was. We are calling him to find out what the very earliest she can get it. We want her to have both injections and the two week presumed period after the second shot to achieve full immunity BEFORE we come to NY on vacation. With some of the local restrictions in some places, the proof of vaccination is just a good thing to have.
Having experienced the ravages of the virus with Kathy, I am even MORE compliant and careful to observe the mask and distancing as a courtesy to, and for the safety of those who HAVEN'T had the virus. I will do so until they find that vaccinated and immune folks don't carry or spread the virus.
Breathe easy my friend, and be well and safe. You can actually go out and about without fearing imminent infection or death.

Thanks Clipper & I hope Kathy gets the shot so you guys can relax a little. I know a couple people who contracted the virus & although they recovered it was no picnic. I still wear a mask. This morning I stopped at the P.O. & forgot to wear it & had to go back to my truck to get it. I'm not taking any chances. I got my 2nd about 12 hours ago & so far all is good with no after effects. It's a beautiful day in CNY with bright sun & we may hit 60, so it's about time for me to get off my butt & do some yard work. But first things first. Time for another cup of joe. Enjoy your day & be safe.

I received my second shot yesterday, came home and went straight to bed and slept from 1pm through to this morning, where I feel as if I have been hit by a Volkswagen. The pharmacist said that the reaction should be "more robust" than last time, he told me to get a good book and I told him I was reading : How to have fun with pharmacuticals in 10 easy steps:" Has anyone here read that? It's a great read if you can afford it!

I hope you feel better soon Artsy. The people I know that have had the flu like misery say it only lasted a day or two. Prayers for ya my friend. If it is going to be warm and sunny there today put on a sweater, sit on the porch and get a bit of sunshine and fresh air.
