We had a lady coughing her head off on the Bus all the way from Walmart to Herkimer Road then to downtown. I bought some rather heavy groceries and hoped she would not need the Bleecker St Bus next and yup she needed that Bus so I walked home stopping every few feet to catch my breath and rest a minute. Before I decided to walk I asked her if by any chance she has a COVID test because of that cough. She said that yes she did and went to the hospital ER because of it the day before and was told it was just a bad cold. I was relived but I wish she would have worn a mask ( Bus driver told her to put it on but she refused saying she can't wear one) At least she would cough into her scarf. Why do sick people like that take a public transportation I asked her and she said to go with her husband for some groceries!!!!!!!! Plus she forgot to buy COUGH DROPS!!!!  Where in hell do these nuts come from. I feel sorry for the people on that Bus some are regulars so I will take that Bus tomorrow to tell them she DID NOT have COVID just a very bad cold. |

So what she is telling you is that she doesn't have covid19 but she is ignorant and doesn't give a damn if she gives everyone a cold because she rude and stupid enough to cough without covering her mouth. I most likely learned to cover my mouth when I sneezed or coughed by the time I was about 4 or 5.

How would you ever know for sure if she has Covid or not? You can't. She could be lying. Just wear your mask, move away from her if you see her, make a complaint to the bus company (although I doubt if they even care at all), don't bother with her at all. She's not worth your time and effort. There are things, events, situations we cannot control, the absurd and anti social behaviors of people around us is the most of it.

Precisely right Artsy. A shield is not as effective as a properly fitting mask but at least if lessens the distance that airborne droplets travel and doesn't impede breathing. I see some people here that wear a shield in lieu of a mask. Much more effective than those I see wearing their mask over their mouth while their beak is out in the open, loud and proud.
I saw a guy come into a local convenience store to pay for his gas the other day while I was purchasing a lotto ticket. No mask, but he DID have his nose and mouth covered. When he came in the door he pulled the neckline of his t-shirt up over his mouth and nose, walked to the cooler for a bottle of soda, and then came to the counter to pay. Of course at about 300lbs with a huge belly, that exposed this hairy roll of flab hanging over his belt. I DO give him credit for trying though. I was wearing my mask and stepped back away from him. He turned to me and apologized and said he forgot his mask in the car. When he left the clerk just rolled her eyes and shook her head and we both laughed. I keep my mask tucked over the driver's side sun visor, and if I had dime for every time I got half way to the door of a store and had to return to the truck to get it, I would have a pocket full of change.

These bus drivers do nothing. They just tell a rider to put mask on if they don't they just keep driving. No authority.
