He was constantly making the news even down here, and yes, it has made our local news that his reporting was negligent. I wasn't a fan of his father and I am not a fan of his either. If he were to be recalled and impeached I would not be a disappointed former NYer. He and DiBlasio are both corrupt self adoring crooks as far as I can see

Now he has said that nursing homes will open Monday after being on lockdown for a full year. This all sounds great, but there will still be many rules and restrictions set by the CDC that will have to be enforced and nursing homes will not bend or break them for reasons too numerous to enumerate here. He at first said that they could reopen on a limited basis in July, 2020 and that turned out to be a logistical nightmare. It was not doable for resident's, staff or visitors. So, they are set to try it again, but here's the kicker: the facility has to be covid free for 14 days up to the 22nd of February. They cannot have had even ONE active case since the Monday the 8th of February and all this has to be documented and proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. A big job to review, proof and submit all that data in a short time, because family members, ect will be flooding the lines with phone calls and flocking there to get in, only to find themselves turned away at the doors, or their calls will be rerouted to activities or Administration or the nearest answering machine. Why: 2 main reasons: first, the time frame is too tight, and the facilities may not prepared. In order to reopen to visitation a plan has to be prepared and approved and reviewed by ...who? Oh, God nose! Also, there are visitor covid testing restrictions. You have to have proof that you have been tested within 7 days and are covid free...or you can take a rapid test at the facility if the facility has rapid tests to give you...now, Cuomo says this will happen.. he promises it will happen .Perhaps, but not tomorrow. Perhaps not for months. I come at this from a history of nursing home work and know how these systems operate...they are slower than the mills of the God's. I have my own story. I have a brother in long term care. I know for a fact that the facility has a high number of active covid cases that they are trying to keep under wraps. Given the demographics of their ages, some may live on a long time, others may not. They will have to wait to open until every one of these cases is cleared and absolutely accept no more active cases, which puts the facility in a double bind regarding the daily census. Cuomo, by discharging active covid cases to nursing homes has created a hydra, a snake pit of epic proportions. Meanwhile, the wolf is waiting at the door for him. I say open it wide, grab him and toss him out. I won't cry.

I'm no fan of Cuomo's at all but I'm not sure that the hands of nursing home operators are entirely clean when it comes to ensuring the safety & well bring of patients as far as Covid is concerned or anything else for that matter, considering their record of neglect & incompetence.

Well, I spent years in the profession and I've met a few in my life: one used to play computer chess all day with his feet up on the desk, another used to play the horse numbers all day, one of them ran away with a nurse and was never heard from again (that was after his wife caught him cheating and hid in the bushes outside the facility with a double barreled shotgun, waiting to pick him off.

Not all nursing homes are bad. The home my dad was in was excellent and his care was excellent. The nurses and staff all loved him and spoiled him rotten. Soon after he passed away the place was sold to a larger conglomerate of nursing homes and the staff was reduced, the place was filthy and the care went downhill. I stopped there once when I was in Kingsport to bring pizza to those that cared for him and found that not only managers but also therapists and nurses had all moved on and there wasn't a familiar face left in the dirty and pissy smelling place.

Just from listening to him and his briefings it becomes easy to see that he is an arrogant and overbearing. When is the last time anyone has seen him smile? I realize that he has had a lot on his mind during the pandemic, but even before that I don't ever recall him being pleasant or personable.
