I started the day with a message from the guy with the jointer/planer. I had messaged him and asked if it was still available yesterday afternoon. He responded and said yes. I told him I would take it and would come and pick it up right away. I asked him where he was in Kingsport. He told me in the Colonial Heights neighborhood. I asked him to send a message with the address so I could put in GPS. He sent me the street address. I message him and asked what time would be convenient for him. No response. Sent him another message and no response. He sent a message this morning. "Sold it last night." I hate it when people do that. You are supposed to put "Sold" on the ad on market place when you sell an item. I hope the guy that bought it paid the SOB with a rubber check. haha. I am disappointed. It was a hell of a deal.

You will get an even better deal now. That item was not meant for you. I predict you will find one soon, a better one at an even lower price.

Thanks Artsyone. I hope so. The hits just keep on coming. The single lever faucet in the kitchen has started drizzling and dripping this morning so I will be off to Lowes shortly to buy a kit to rebuild it. In the meantime Kathy turned on the dryer to dry some sheets and it is making an incessant squealing noise. It has had a slight chirp intermittently for a few days, but now whatever is worn out has decide to really go to hell. Called the repair man and he will be here in about 15 minutes. Probably going to be about a $200 day or more.

Yay, we got away with only $130 for the dryer service. He replace the drive pulley, the belt and two wheels that the tub rides on and everything is guaranteed for 1yr. One of the wheels had frozen up completely and wasn't even turning.
I was very surprised. I am sure that in most cases a service man won't even knock on your door for only $130.
Now I have to get moving and go to Lowes for the parts for the faucet and mess with that thing. I hate messing with plumbing.

A couple weeks ago I noticed that the water supply valve for the toilet was dripping. When I went to shut it off it grenaded. I never ran so fast in my life to get to the basement to shut off the main. You can imagine the clean up. Not fun at all. We got the mess cleaned up & I went to Lowes & bought a Shark Bite shut off valve & a new supply line & had it done in 10 minutes. I'm just thankfull that it wasen't the toilet in the half bath upstairs or I'd be replacing ceilings here.

Well, par for the course. I went and bought the rebuild kit for the Delta faucet, got it home, tore apart the faucet and discovered it was beyond reasonable repair. It was pretty corroded inside the valve body. Thank goodness I hadn't unwrapped the repair kit yet. Off to Lowe's to return the parts and buy a faucet. They didn't have a faucet comparable to the one we have. Next stop, Home Depot. I handed the old faucet to the guy in plumbing and he looked in his hand held phone or computer and pulled one off the shelf. I got home and it was the wrong faucet and had no provision for a sprayer. Back I go. Now it is 5 pm and I am worn out. Stopped at Mickey D's for fish sandwiches meal deals, and of course the hamburger with no bun for the pooch.
Tomorrow is another day. My raggedy old butt had enough of laying in a contorted position with my head and shoulders crammed in cabinet under the sink. My ribs are sore from laying on the edge of the cupboard.

If worse came to worse you could always put a bucket in the cellar and drill a hole in the bathroom floor, haha. My worst plumbing nightmare came while I was single and living in a two story house on River Rd in Marcy a few houses east of Lock 20. The upstairs bathroom had a claw foot tub and an old porcelain pedestal sink with the old fashioned basin cocks. One of those faucets was running a steady stream so I took it apart to replace the washer and ream the seat and there was no ream to it any more. I reamed it and it still leaked as badly as it did before. I looked at every home improvement store in Utica and Couldn't match the faucet. I told the landlord that I couldn't match the faucet and that I would have to replace them both. The cheapskate actually told me to go to Pelnicks wrecking yard and buy a used one. Now started the adventure. When I tried to unscrew the basin cock to replace it, the pipe twisted off. So now I try to change that nipple at an elbow. That end of the pipe twisted off too. Now we are down to a 90 degree elbow where the pipe goes into the wall. Yep, that twisted off inside the wall. End result was an entire days work, starting in the cellar, lowering the pipe about 6 feet at a time and cutting it off with a hacksaw while reaching over my head and cutting in an awkward position. It took me an entire day. I took him the receipts and he paid me for the parts and handed me a 20 dollar bill, and said "here, this is for your trouble." Really??? That was the last damned thing I ever did to his house.

That was the last damned thing I ever did to his house. I would have gone without that sink & given that stiff a 30 day notice & moved. I rented an apartment from one of those stiffs years ago. Beginning of winter the furnace started acting up. It would fire up, throw heat for a minute & shut off. I called him in Florida where he went every winter & told him the story. Of course I got the old song & dance about money & he never did send a furnace guy over. I half froze my ass off all winter & had to buy a space heater to keep warm. No problem. But I made sure that I stayed long enough for him to head south in the fall & then I found a place & moved. Payback was when I called him & told him I moved & that he better open the old wallet & get his furnace fixed before his pipes froze. "Remember that furnace, Ace"? The call did not go over well with him but there wasen't a thing he could do about it & he knew it. Then the louse kept $100. of my security depost but it was worth it for me just to get that last jab in. Other then no heat it was a nice place in a good neighborhood. Winter not so much.

BHU, you make me wish I had taken the rusted pipes out of the wall all the way to the cellar, left them in a pile on the cellar floor when I left. I guess that would have insured that his cheap ass would have to hire a plumber and pay out the nose for the repair. the steel pipe has so much rust in it that the hole in the center was only about the size of a pencil.

I rented out a few places before I bought a house & most of the landlords were good people just trying to get along, except for that one character. But I wouldn't want to own rental property the way things are nowadays. No way.

I owned a couple of rental properties when I was younger, but I don't have the patience or the time to deal with tenants or do the maintenance on more than one house. The one I live in keeps me busy enough.
