wcyb.com/news/local/knoxville-police-confirm-17-year-old-boy-from-bristol-tennessee-dies-in-crashLooking at the photo I imagine that he plowed into and went under the trailer. It is not a good sign when you see them lifting the rear of the trailer with a crane. I-40 through Knoxville is a scary section of road to navigate. it is anywhere from 4 to 6 lanes in most places and nothing short of 70mph chaos. I used to navigate roads like that weekly with a tractor trailer and never gave it a second thought. Now I absolutely hate driving through big cities. Especially if we are pulling the camper. Just age catching up with me I guess. People ducking and diving from lane to lane at 70 really stress me out. Going through Knoxville I-75 blends with I-40 for several miles before it splits again west of Knoxville. Prayers for the boy's family. My sister was quite upset. I guess the boy was a good student and a fine young man.

Why? Because God's time is not our time. We are so small in the general scheme of the all creation, and there are massive , unknown, unseen and frightening forces moving us along, that the universal human struggle has been to try and make sense of them somehow, someway. Or else...or else we would loose our collective humanity, and that thing we call "mind". Why? Why is beyond our understanding, that so young a life was taken so brutally. Why? I don't know why. Perhaps individuals make choices beyond the realm of rationality. The Pastor asks: Why was he at a certain place at a certain time for this to happen. The Pastor, according to his and the boy's belief systems tells us, in a direct way, that Jesus's hand was in the mix. This is what he believes so truly. That it is not what I believe doesn't make it less real or the pain of such a ripping away, such a sudden parting, less traumatic.

Sadness or feeling of loss or emptiness exists within much of the animal kingdom and some would say even within the plant kingdom. Death is a part of life. How it comes about is varied. The response to that event of end of life comes from the learned collective mindfulness of those to whom that death is reflected. Life is connected. You would be surprised at the electromagnetic change in a plant that experiences the death of a goldfish placed next to it. So does the plant mourn.....!
