It was in the sixties yesterday. The temperatures began to fall last evening and rain began to mix with flurries of snow. Today's high is expected to be between 32 and 35 degrees. It was 28 when I got up this morning. That represents a drop of over 30 degrees in less than 12 hours. Brrr. I had to hang up the quilt lined shirt and go back to the hooded winter jacket, gloves, and ski hat this morning to go get my paper from the tube and to let the dog out to do her business. Of course she couldn't just pee and come back. She had to chase a squirrel up a tree and then spend 5 minutes or so barking at the base of the tree while I stood at the gate freezing my buns off.

very cold here, but bright and it is expected to go down to zero or below for the weekend. I made sauce with used meat yesterday. I threw in whatever I had leftover: chicken, beef. hamburger, bell peppers and onion, celery, a few stubby carrots. It came out great!

Kathy has done that a few times. We have made sauce with pork chops before for both pasta dishes and a base for mushroom stew. A lot of old fashioned Italians use carrot in their sauce for sweetness. Many times if she is using left over meat along with hamburger she uses the sauce with onion, celery, and peppers to make goulash with elbows.

No carrots though. Tomorrow I'm off to Chanatry's for canned tomatoes & whatever else we need for sauce on Sunday. Temp right now is about 15* & dropping.

I made Italian sausage with spinach in a tomato sauce. I always liked that. It was something my Mom made for us as kids. Very tasty and easy.
We are in for some very cold weather. I have my heat up to 74 degrees since the idiots who installed the new windows left caps that you can feel the cold aid blow through when wind is in my direction. All three buildings are complaining of it and as always nothing is done. They could at least put weather stripping and a plastic sheet up against the windows to act as a barrier but that takes brains o figure out. Of course they now argue no money from Washington and all building are now being sold. I hope this new idea works for them but I doubt it.
It is odd that nursing homes were the first to see huge problems being able to run with funding so low now HUD and Public Housing is facing the same huge problem followed by Section 8 funding.
I was not approved for one new housing development for seniors because I did not make enough money to qualify. Apparently $21,000 is minimum a year for the rent of $720 a month. Another place I inquired in New Hartford Senior Apartments which is not subsidized ( which I can understand) but over $1000 per month for rent I cannot understand not for a one bedroom apartment. Unless the toilet is made of gold!!!!!
