Using a federal system designed to warn all Americans about terrorist threats to the U.S. homeland, the Department of Homeland Security has issued a warning that anger "fueled by false narratives," especially unfounded claims about the 2020 presidential election, could lead some inside the country to launch attacks in the coming weeks.





"Information suggests that some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence," according to a bulletin issued Wednesday through the DHS National Terrorist Advisory System -- or NTAS.

The system was last used to issue a public warning a year ago, when DHS issued a bulletin over potential retaliation by Iran for the U.S. assassination of Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani in Iraq days earlier. A year before that, DHS issued a bulletin through the same system to highlight the threat from foreign terrorist groups like ISIS or al-Qaida.









But over the past year, domestic terrorists "motivated by a range of issues, including anger over COVID-19 restrictions, the 2020 election results, and police use of force have plotted and on occasion carried out attacks against government facilities," and "long-standing racial and ethnic tension -- including opposition to immigration -- has driven [domestic terrorist] attacks," the bulletin issued Wednesday said.

An eye opening look at the "Proud Boys" movement. This is not your staunch Republican neighbor. These men ARE extremists and domestic terrorists. Please don't confuse them with your average conservative. If these groups show up in DC again to incite violence or challenge capitol police I hope that the police and national guard are prepared to swiftly put down the rebellion by whatever means necessary. Fight fire with fire. These people don't represent we republicans. These people don't even represent any semblance of patriotism. These people are dangerous criminals, plain and simple.

I draw parallels between the Proud Boys and Timothy McVeigh.

“The disdain for government and the disdain for government public servants is another parallel that I would draw,” between Proud Boys and their ilk and the beliefs of Timothy McVeigh.

"Even the 1978 book that inspired McVeigh, “The Turner Diaries,” includes a fictional attack by white supremacists on the U.S. Capitol." One has to wonder if this had become the playbook of those modern day extremists that rioted on January 6th.

Sadly our nation is home to many such splinter groups. They can all be compared to the KKK of olden days. they all have "their crosses to burn" and their primary intent is violence against the subject of their hatred. The Proud Boys describe themselves as proud chauvinist men, they espouse ALL the traits of white supremacists, with a hatred for people of color, hatred of gays, as well as being sexists and antigovernment rebels.

I find Q-anon much scarier and more dangerous than the Proud Boys. They are some REAL sickos. THEIR beliefs go way beyond reality. They are dangerously delusional in their beliefs in a multitude of wide ranging conspiracy theories.

The government troops and the law enforcement organizations in DC need to be well prepared for the worst and ready to squelch any attempts at violent behavior or insurrection. Those groups are seditionists in the true sense of the word, and make no mistake about it, they must be stomped on like a bug.

These splinter groups preplanned their attack on the capitol, while the vast majority of those people on the mall that day were just there to peacefully but loudly protest. While they were listening to Trump's speech at the white house, the violent insurrectionists and terrorists were already beginning their assault on the capitol.

I am glad that the Proud Boys have been singled out and identified as a major force in damage and physical violence that day. It was their followers or those of similar ilk (like Q-anon) that physically attacked, injured and brought about the deaths related to the breach.

Having worked for the government at Griffiss for 25 yrs, I saw security at it's highest levels. We had secure areas such as the bomber alert area, the weapon's storage area, and the fighter alert pods, where entry was limited, strictly controlled, and deadly force was authorized. Our capitol is such an asset, as is the white house. We had to be pre-announced before entering the areas. More than once over the years were we "jacked up" and forced to lay on the ground or lay over the hood of a truck while being held at gunpoint by a security police troop with and assault rifle until the situation was resolved. I have no doubt that if we had ignored the security cop or approached the asset they were guarding that we would have been shot.

It needs to be known that physical or deadly force is authorized by signs and by megaphone when appropriate. Let those intent on breaching the security be warned and if they continue to advance there is a good chance that they may be shot and killed. It is known fact that deadly force is authorized to protect the white house and the president. Make it clearly known that the same level of protection is afforded the capitol or other federal buildings if necessary.
