Regardless of his personal feelings, a person supposedly possessing a high level of intelligence has certainly let personal feelings and emotion over rule common sense.
YES! HE SHOULD BE FIRED! Not because he holds those beliefs and feelings. Because he stupidly put it out on social media for all to read. HIS students as well as all the students who could access his FB page were subjected to the less than professional conduct, unbecoming of anyone that I would want teaching my children. The unacceptable profanity certainly is reason enough to remove him from a position of influence over young minds.
He is not the first person of prominence to be disciplined for his social media posts and won't be the last. Social media can be a treacherous tight rope to walk. A tightrope that one can easily fall from with dire negative consequence to themselves and others. In my opinion school teachers are the LAST people that should use social media to express personal opinion. My brother and sister are both retired teachers. While not forbidden by school administrations where they worked, they were both compelled to avoid posting on social media until after they retired. A smart move in my opinion. They both taught for over 40 yrs and one social media post could have destroyed a long and respected career.
