The couple that brought me all that food the night that Kathy was admitted to the hospital now has tested positive. Eddie is showing no symptoms but Gail has been congested and today was getting short of breath. Eddie went and got an oximeter and her doctor phoned in prescriptions for an antibiotic of Gail as well as a nebulizer and the applicable liquid to use.
They are really special to Kathy and I. They told us that they love us and consider us like parents since both of them have lost their parents. They are in their late 50's, or early 60's and real church going Baptists. Gail is the one that drove 25 miles to go to the hospital and go in with Kathy because I couldn't. Prior to that on the same day she had driven that same 25 miles to bring us an oximeter. Later that day her and Eddie made a third trip to bring an enormous selection of food for me. Between all those trips to Bristol, she had found the time to cook a ham, make macaroni salad, chicken salad, and bake fresh croissants.
Yesterday Kathy was in the kitchen all day making pumpkin breads for all the neighbors. She normally does that a Christmas but Covid prevented that this year. today she was in the kitchen all day making a macaroni salad, macaroni goulash, a pistachio cake with whipped cream frosting, and I bought a cold cut tray, and a tray of assorted wraps with ham and other things and we took it down to them. Tomorrow I am making chicken soup to take down to them.
They are quarantining with her on one end of the house and Eddie on the other. Thankfully they have a large house with something like 4 bedrooms, a den, a living room, a solarium with a grand piano, 3 full baths and a half bath and an office for Eddie. They are quite wealthy but very down to earth and humble. Eddie retired as the head tax accountant for a major coal conglomerate and when we were talking about the stimulus checks Eddie said his retirement was too high to get it. I would hazard a guess that he must it means that he gets $175,000 or more or has nice nest egg tucked away somewhere.
