lite987.com/no-ez-pass-new-york-state-thruway-tolls-going-up-30-in-2021/Thank goodness we only visit occasionally. It won't break our bank but it may prompt us to take the scenic route from Syracuse to the Utica/Rome area. The toll road is just one more example of some more budget breaking spending by NY state's government. It has become the cash cow that brings revenue that is most likely spent freely in other places besides maintaining the Thruway and canal. The Thruway was supposed to have become toll free when the construction costs had been recouped. The only positive note is that my son and others who commute to and from Syracuse and other places will not be affected, and trucking companies who already have EZ pass won't see a rise in tolls for the time being. The last time there was mention of a possible toll increase trucking companies were threatening to avoid the Thruway and in some cases, depending on their destination, to avoid NY State completely.

I suggest they stop charging residents of New York State a toll charge and just charge non residents and trucking companies. The can easily place ton limits on those route that a truck can take. This really is discriminatory to those who cannot to have moneys placed in a EZ Pass account for use at odd times of travel. The 20% toll increase is not good

When we were travelling more frequently, EZ pass was convenient because it is accepted by many states. Much less travel now but we still have the accounts.

I had to take the wife to Albany Medical Center today to have a procedure done because her Dr. here referred her to a specialist out there. Took the Thwy & I don't have ezpass so I guess I'll be getting a bill soon. I did see less congestion in Albany where the toll plazas were. The best thing about the Thwy is the plazas are well maintained now, not like the pig stys of a few years ago. As far as I'm concerned the TW's plan to force people into getting a pass is b.s. I was considering getting one just in case but now that they're telling people to get one or be penalized they can shove it. They're not extorting me, I'll take another route.

When we were travelling more frequently, EZ pass was convenient because it is accepted by many states. Much less travel now but we still have the accounts. When we moved here to Tennessee we had EZ pass transponders in both of our vehicles and kept enough in the accounts to cover our usage when we were up there on vacation. One by one the windshield mounted things went to hell and needed to be replaced. We didn't want to fool with getting them replaced so we just started paying the tolls in cash. The last couple of times we were up there we used the side roads anyway. From Verona we normally only travel between there and Herkimer or Utica so Rt 5 will serve us well enough. For you and Barb it is probably still handy for the toll roads through Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois.
