Remington went bankrupt just recently and fired most of its workers. Someone bought the Company but only as a small operation. O think eventually it will be gone along with Ilion.

Remington divisions have been sold off to a number of other firearms/ammo related companies. Anyone who purchases a Remington firearm should do some research, and make sure that the warrantee will be valid, and if so, which company will honor it. Hopefully they will be qualified to work on Remington products.

I feel bad for those Remington employees who got screwed royally out of their severence pay, unused vacation time & even their health insurance by their former employer despite having a union contract. I'll bet upper echelon management took care of themselves with their golden parachutes. It's the same old story.

Even if the sue they won't be seeing any money in severance or retirement for quite some time while it works its way through the courts and appeal process. Very sad indeed. I guess only one line in the entire plant is going to survive under a new owner.

When CP closed shop here in Utica they moved their manufacturing operations to Georgia. Bad move. I knew a guy that relocated down there as a supervisor & he said it was the wosrt thing CP ever did. The plant lasted 2-3 years then closed because half the good ole boys down there wouldn't show up for work half the time. It cost CP millions for the move & they ran the place into the ground. The supervisor ended up moving back here & retired. Remington is headed for the same fate in Alabamy. No way they'll find the same workmanship & work ethic down there that exists in Ilion.
