Corner, the forums link is at the very bottom left of the page, under shortcuts. Nothing has changed on the forums page except the background color. I am not thrilled with the rest of the "new" and allegedly "improved" page though.
I guess in spending the night rebuilding the page, they forgot to put up any news stories to speak of.

They seem to have more national news. I'd rather have local news. I can get national news anywhere.

I do enjoy it here. I remember early on, I mentioned the possibility of growing this space bigger and everyone else was underwhelmed with my idea. But now this place feels just about right for the family, friendly atmosphere. And like all families, we can disagree. As you can probably tell, I like a good fight once in a while. It helps me sharpen my opinions on the forge of public debate. The OD offers a bit more of that. I like it when I can read a response and say to myself "Damn, I knew s/he was going to come at me with that." But how many times can I pick an argument with Jduges and froggy?

Ditto frank. Just thought of something funny. I know alot of politicians, candidates and yes even some of our city departments review the OD forum to keep up on public opinions concerning many issues and for their own personal reasons to, to read what the public might feel about the job they're doing. Bet we're making them crazy now by starting up this forum and having them trying to keep up on both. ;D

BORING! Sir, you do us great insult. Honor must be upheld. Sir, you are challenged. Puns at 5 paces
Randy, the painter, often thinned his paint to make it go further. The Baptist Church decided to restore its biggest building. Randy put in a low bid and got the job. He bought the paint, and, yes, thinned it with turpentine. Well, Randy was painting away, the job nearly completed, when suddenly there was a clap of thunder. The sky opened, and the rain poured down. It washed the thinned paint off the church. Randy fell from the scaffold, landing among the gravestones. He was no fool. He knew this was a judgment from the Almighty. Randy raised his voice to the heavens, crying, "Oh, God, forgive me; what should I do?" And from above, a mighty voice roared: “Repaint! Repaint! And thin no more!"

You noticed that too, huh? Maybe they are keeping the lines open, waiting for an update? the only thing that I find in the OD that is that old and still of interest, are some of the historic reminiscences of Malio Cardarelli concerning the city and it's former celebs and well known people.

clarence, I'll see your pun and raise you 5 paces.
Did you hear about the Buddhist who refused his dentist's novocaine during root canal work? He wanted to transcend dental medication!

been reading about gillette since i was ajid the od dedicating huge amounts of spaceto feature articles on really who gives a shit? The courts are legislating morality and the newspapers are preaching it, that's all. Get with the program, this is a new world. Your viewpoints .. gained from your church, your parents, your friends .... need an update and you need to understand what is really important in the public sphere and what is not. Personal responsibility, character and the recognition of a metaphysical reality are no longer as important as Fairness, diversity and the daily sludge of the downtrodden masses, the latter being those whom your tax dollars support. Corner, you just don't get it!

Swimmy, that's interesting. Why would they not want to discuss certain topics? Can you give examples that you might remember? Usually anything that portrays the OIN in a positive light. I can't recall specific examples off hand, but there have been times where I would post from the wktv site before that format was ruined. I would point out how the od conveniently left an entire article off the website, let alone link it for public comment. After about 3 days of my thread being up there, a link to the article would appear and I would receive an e-mail from the "moderators" claiming that it was an insult to them that I posted from wktv and that they work hard to put all pertinent articles up for comment. I'd write back and tell them to do their jobs and I wouldn't have to do it for them. One case in particular that was in the print paper but not on their site dealt with an incident at the new hartford high school. the paper did not even bother to print a story, but wktv covered it. I started posting threads for people to discuss mainly because I was tired of seeing the same threads for weeks and the moderators did little to add to the discussions. So I would post links to the articles with my own perspective on them.
