Dave - Just think of the posters here as High School Graduates and the OD members on their forum still learning how to get out of Kindergarden!

The thing that really gets me is that the moderators don't post all their stories for comment. The conveniently left out stories of popular interest. So I or hccc would have to start the topic. You knew it was a hot topic because I would check it later in the day and see my thread generated about three pages worth of discussion. The new change locked me out because I think I threatened their jobs. I don't think they liked my posting the news articles they didn't want to be commented on. Anyway, the forums are a total disgrace to what a true forum should be like and how it should be moderated.

Swimmy, that's interesting. Why would they not want to discuss certain topics? Can you give examples that you might remember? Thelma, I know what you mean and didn't take it literally. Swimmy's a bit sensitive this time of year.

Thelma, I did the same as you and canceled the OD months ago. I can get the news on line and off TV for free. Plus, since I'm always in the Doc's office there is always one there to read for free . Well maybe not exactly free since the Doc's visit is far from being cheap, but no need to get one at home to. I do buy the Sunday paper, but only for the grocery coupons. Just using one double coupon at PC pays for the paper.

I can't get into the OD forums tonight. It worked for a while but not since around 9pm. I noticed the Moderator put up a thread linking to the story about Officer Corr's family still waiting to learn the outcome of extradition of two suspects from NJ. NelsonRd posted a response that sounded like he/she was complaining because we were going to have to hear about Officer Corr for the rest of our lives. I wrote a quick, subtle tear-him-a-new-asshole post but when I was finished, his post was missing so I quickly deleted my own.
Yeah, there's some "special" people out there.

Boy frank, you got that one right. Let it be their relative and see how quick they'd change their attitudes.

Forum codes still don't work. But they do still permit punctuation.

I can't find a link either. Try this: uticaod.net/comments/index.phpIt might not be right because it still has the red look, not the new blue look. I stopped posting. I don't want to be known as the replacement for Millicent.

Not all of us had the opportunity to attend College -but the majority of us did graduate from High School.

Amen Dave. We are proud to have you here, as we are proud to have all our friends with us from the OD forums. Obviously some of us still partake of both forums, but you are correct in your observation that discussion seems somewhat more civilized here than there, haha.
It is like we skimmed the cream from the top strictly by fate, when our membership came to this board from that one. I guess civilized discussion has dictated our tone from the beginning and more or less dictated who was and was not interested in participating as a member here.
I find the atmosphere here on this board "peaceful" and relaxing. Some might find it "boring" but I find it more desireable than the alternative "irritating and mean spirited".
I want to see this board survive and become better. I actually would like to see "limited" growth. I can see room for many more members, but I really don't care if it reaches massive proportions. We don't need a thousand members to enjoy discussion. I am of the opinion that the "family like" atmosphere that we seem to have fallen into, is quite desireable.
I would take this opportunity to thank all of you for helping us get this up and running and for your daily participation. I hope everyone is enjoying it as much as I am. It has truly became my "homepage" and I don't wander far for very long anymore. You are the ones that hold my interest and respect.
