The house smells amazing. I found a recipe on line the other day for spice cake made in the slow cooker.
Dump two cans of apple pie filling in the bottom of a crock pot, sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
Pour a box of spice cake mix evenly on top of the apples.
Cut two sticks of butter into pats and evenly distribute the pats on top of the cake mix.
Cook on high for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
We have not tried this recipe before, but it seems to me that it will probably be something we will be serving with a spoon and topping with whipped cream. I will try to remember to tell you how it turns out. I can't imagine that it would be very easy to cut like a cake and lift out of the crockpot in squares but I will let ya know.

Update. It is done, it is delicious. You do have to use a spoon to dish it up and it is best eaten from a bowl with a spoon. We are having it hot because we couldn't endure the wonderful smell wafting through the house without having a sample. I guarantee it is not low cal or low fat with two entire sticks of butter in it.

Barb says you need chopped walnuts on top of the butter and calls it "dump cake." I think she makes it in the oven.

Kathy says she will make it in the oven the next time. She does several different dump cakes. Doing this one in the crockpot made it a bit too moist. First helping was great. After that the cake had soaked up too much juice from the pie filling and butter. It was delicious but mushy. I plan on having a bowl of it for a snack later, heat in the microwave and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It is damned tasty no matter what it looks like, haha.
