wcyb.com/news/local/traffic-alert-tractor-trailer-crash-on-i-81-sb-near-mm-7Looking at the photo all I could think of was the fact that someone's overnight Amazon delivery is probably going to be a bit late. thankfully no one was seriously injured. There have been a lot of tractor trailer wrecks along this local stretch of interstate 81 from Kingsport to Abingdon Va. lately. I don't understand why. The highway is no different than any other stretch that I am aware of. It seems like every day there is another truck wreck here locally. Is there an inordinate number of truck crashes along 81 in NY too?

Deer jumping out in front of me this time of year is what concerns me. I've had a few close calls in the last couple years. Having lived up North in the Adirondacks for several years I learned that sometimes hitting a deer can't be avoided but I always followed the guidance, gripped the wheel strongly, steered straight ahead, and held on hoping the air bag didn't smack me in the face. That and a good body shop that would fold your deductible into the estimate worked for me. It seemed that every year either the ex wife or I would hit a deer on our way out to work on a fall or winter morning. It is a real concern this time of year with the bucks in rut and the does running from them. All a person can do is keep their eyes scanning the road sides and even then sometimes a car/deer collision is unavoidable.
