Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg dies at 87 WASHINGTON — Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a diminutive yet towering women’s rights champion who became the court’s second female justice, died Friday at her home in Washington. She was 87. Ginsburg died of complications from metastatic pancreatic cancer, the court said. Ginsburg announced in July that she was undergoing chemotherapy treatment for lesions on her liver, the latest of her several battles with cancer. www.uticaod.com/news/20200918/supreme-court-justice-ruth-bader-ginsburg-dies-at-87

McConnell is going to break his ass to get another justice confirmed even though Trump is up for reelection come November. McConnell is a hypocrite who denied Obama a shot at having a justice appointed because in Mitch's twisted mind it was Obama's last year in office. Course good ole Mitch is owned by Trump who gave Mitch's wife a cabinet post making $200,000/year so returned favors are in order & ethics be damned.

Well, I don't argue politics on here but you and I are on opposite ends of the spectrum politically. I for one WANT to see Trump appoint a replacement for Ginsburg. I can't imagine a left leaning liberal majority on the court, and I am pretty sure that you can't imagine a right wing conservative majority on the supreme court. I learned a lesson or two when we had some of us that were anti-Obama brought our anger and discontent to the forum and chased away a significant number of former members. People were driven off by the angry rhetoric and rants. The forum used to have 30 or 40 members that posted regularly. You probably would not like the Trump 2020 flag flying from my front porch, but I think it adds a nice touch of color to the landscape. It is good that we are able to recognize that there is nothing to be gained by angry and pointless discourse and that we are able to respect each other's right to their own opinion.

During the last year of Obamas' term, McDonnell opposed his Judicial nominees. Now Senate Democrats want to block Trupm's. I would love to see judicial nominees judged on their qualifications rather than politics.

I read today that Lady Ginsburg last words were: Do not let Trump appoint my replacement. The suspense kills me! Politics today is better than a good murder mystery. I can't wait for after the election day when all the ballots have to be counted along with the millions of absentee ballots. It is gonna be a riot......

I seem to recall the Republicans being upset with Biden, saying that he picked his VP based on race and sex, instead of by qualifications. Now Trump states that he will pick a female judge for the Supreme Court. Isn't he doing the same thing?

I think currently any replacement for Ginsberg will have to be a woman. Reading articles about the list of potential nominees Trump has released one name stands out to me: Amy Coney Barrett. Strong law credentials, recently vetted, mother of 7 with some adopted and one special needs. She is also a practicing Catholic. Pushes a lot of buttons.

And she ( Amy Coney Barrett ) is only 48 years old. I think she would be the youngest on the Supreme Court so she would be on for a long time.

I oppose any judge nominated by either party that has been endorsed by & is a member of The Federalist Society. And I oppose any politician who is trying to take away protections for pre existing health conditions which is what Trump & his party are trying to do with their lawsuit which is in front of the SC right now.

The Federalist Society advocates for minimal federal government and strong states rights, exactly how the founders wanted it. I never understood how people oppose this notion and still call themselves American. Fortunately for you, trump has repeatedly said he does not support removing protections for pre-existing health conditions on multiple occasions throughout his four-year term. A vote for him is a vote to continue that pledge. You're welcome.

He claimed back in July that he'd be signing a healthcare plan in two weeks, which turned out be total b.s. Thanks!

As soon as the House stops with its useless efforts to overthrow a duly elected president, I'm sure we'll see some progress on healthcare that actually benefits us, instead of what the aca has done. Blame the establishment for "resisting" your president's efforts to serve you. People like pelosi, nadler, and schiff belong in the bread lines of Venezuela.

She's more than qualified to be on the bench.
