It has been a case that has touched the hearts of just about everyone here and around the country. First the amber alert and the hunt for the baby, then the false reporting by the mother, then the baby's body found in a shed on the grandfather's property. Now FINALLY they have gathered enough evidence to indict the mother. I suspected all along that something terrible had happened to the baby and that the mother KNEW what had happened and knew where the baby was.
Finally there will be justice done in the case. It is heart breaking to read what is suspected and yes, it is sad to believe that the young mother could have done such a thing and hid the baby's body. Even if convicted of the heinous crime I can't help but feel sorry for the family and for the accused. It can't help but think it may be a case of a child having child and not knowing how to cope with the responsibility of motherhood, resulting in whatever killed the baby.
The entire area here is relieved to see the charges finally brought. The pictures of little Evelyn are on our news constantly whenever any mention of the progress in the investigation is reported on tv. Seeing the pictures of those big blue eyes and that sweet little face and knowing the horrific circumstances is just heart wrenching. It is a case that never has been far from people's minds as we all prayed and hoped for the perpetrator to be found and prosecuted. No matter what she has done, or how she could hide that poor toddler's body in a shed, it is still sad for Meghan's family that such a young girl will most likely spend most of the rest of her life in prison if convicted on all nineteen of the charges, especially the two counts of murder.
