It was a beautiful day again today with temperatures in the mid to high 80's. With the travel trailer back home I thought it was time to give it a good cleaning, inside and out. It hasn't left the yard in almost 3 yrs. Kathy's nephew didn't come last year for the fall race so it has not been slept in for 2 yrs. Aluminum sides trailers get black streaking from the rain and runoff from the roof. It is tough stuff to clean off. Many people do their entire trailer with Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. They do the job but there is a huge amount of heavy scrubbing in order to remove the stains and the Magic Erasers are far from inexpensive.
I was on an RV owner's website and found that several people were recommending a cheap, but super effective cleaning compound that removes the stains completely and without a lot of scrubbing and elbow grease. It is called "Awesome" and it IS awesome. Believe it or not it comes from Dollar Tree and you can buy a 1/2 gallon jug of it for a buck. It is an amazing spray on and wipe off product. I filled a spray bottle with the stuff and with an 8 foot step ladder to do the upper half I managed to spray on and wipe off all the stains and the part that I have done looks brand new. It is a 28 foot trailer and I manage to do one side and the back of it today, and then washed it with an RV wash and wax product. I felt like the Karate Kid. Spray on, wipe off, repeat. It took me about 3 1/2 hours to do the one side and the back. Tomorrow I will finish the other side and the front. It was such a nice sunny day, and not as humid as it has been so it was really pleasant. I put country music CD's on the player in the trailer, piped it to the outside speakers and the time flew by.
It was a great day to cook outside on the grill so Kathy made a potato salad, a tossed green salad, and carrots cooked in orange juice, honey and brown sugar and I grilled two super tender NY Strip steaks on the grill. It has been too hot to stand in front of a gas grill lately but today it was quite nice. It is only 76 right now.

God has blessed you with an abundance of energy. As He said after each act of creation: Ketov the Hebrew word for “It is good.
I'll have to look for that Awesome stuff. Inspections will be coming up and I need to clean the shower. LOL; Ketov
Hot here today also but not like the other days. I made a rainbow swizz chard omelet along with a tomato salad.

I deserve a pat on the back. I increased my walk tonight and walked from my place all the way to the Police Station then over Oriskany St and up Broadway to Elizabeth up Elizabeth to St Johns Church where I had to collapse onto the bench in parking lot for 5 minutes then up to the Fire Station on Bleecker St crossed the street and headed back home. All under an hour. Actually 48 minutes. I'm shot not.
What with the heat I haven't been able to do any serious walking where I time myself. I still have to knock off 8 pounds before winter sets in so I can gain it all back again!!! I gained 20 pounds this past winter.

Heck PB, knock of 16 pounds and you will have a cushion to work with and can enjoy eating all winter without topping out at the 20 lb mark. When you reach that 16 lb mark go order a small pizza and a bottle of good red wine and celebrate. We just came in from finishing the cleaning of the outside of the trailer. It is not a physically challenging job but it is time consuming and tedious. The trailer is a little over 8 feet wide, 28 feet long and 9 feet tall. It takes a long time to spray and wipe the entire trailer with a spray bottle and rags. I think it took me about 10 hours total between yesterday and today, but after cleaning it and washing it with an RV wash and wax it looks brand new again. Taking a quick break for lunch and then onward and upward to a quick mowing of the front and side lawns before resting up for bowling tonight. I did the back lawn last night. The grass grows at a ridiculous rate here when it is hot. When we get a rain the grass will grow and inch overnight. It is not unusual to have to mow every 4 or 5 days.

Hey Clipper, why not pressure wash it or would it dent the siding? JW. We got back from Clayton a couple hours ago. We decided to bring the grandaughters along & we had a great time. Weather was perfect with temps in the 80's & not too humid. We went into Keeywaydin State Park yesterday so the kids could swim & I'm always impressed with that park. The pool is near Olympic Size & in perfect condition. Grounds well kept, basketball & volleyball courts. They also rent boats & the price is very reasonable, I think $40. for a 16ftr for half a day. Maybe next time. We did some fishing & the perch & bass were hitting. We caught quite a few but tossed them all back. We would have stayed another day but our room was booked & we couldn't find any other accomodations that allows pets. We brought the pooch along as we couldn't find a sitter at the last minute. On the way back we picked up a dozen sweet corn at $4/dozen at a roadside stand just south of Boonville from an old farmer who sat on his lawn chair sipping a cold Budweiser. Lol.

I have pressure washed it in the past but the black streaking that is common on the white aluminum on camping trailers does not come off with a pressure washer or any detergent or cleaner as well as it did with the Awesome cleaner from the dollar store. It was recommended by several people on an RV owners website and it works great. Normally I would be able to remove the streaks in a much shorter time. It has sat for about 3 yrs and had gotten ahead of me. I normally wash the trailer a couple of times a year so I simply got what I deserved for my gross neglect. It shines like a new penny now. I am ashamed to have let a $30,000 trailer get in such dirty and cruddy looking condition. When Kathy's nephew is here the first part of September I will have him redo the sealer on the rubber roof. He is a life saver. He and his girlfriend come down every year for a week or 10 days and he accomplishes all the tasks that are difficult for this old man.
We haven't bought sweet corn yet this year. It has been ready and on the stands for a Couple of weeks or more. The old timer that we buy our corn from plants in several increments and usually has corn through the middle of September or later. I would be interested in checking out Keewayden State Park if we still lived up there. It sounds wonderful and if the fishing is good I would be in heaven. I would probably rent a boat every day.
We are actually contemplating trading the trailer and going back to a fifth wheel. With the slope of our driveway the bumper tow trailer is hard to get to drop on the ball, and when I unhook I have often had to struggle with it for 1/2 hour before finally pulling the pin on the receiver and pulling ahead so the hitch come out of the receiver and just drops on the ground. A fifth wheel is much easier to hook and unhook and they actually tow better with less sway. We are debating whether to go back to a fifth wheel or simply stop camping. This trailer is a 2016 model and has hardly been used. It is in pristine condition. It's paid for so the next question is do we want to spend the money to buy another new one at our age.

I know what you mean when it comes to trailering. One of the reasons I gave up on our boat was having to trailer it every time we wanted to go out. It got to be too much of a hassle. Plus having to launch it & deal with other people at the ramp who either don't know what they're doing which can get interesting or are just aholes.
If you decide to come up & go to Keewaydin to camp out I'd strongly recommend making a reservation well ahead of time as that place fills up quickly. If you rent a boat watch yourself out of the main channel as there are rock shoals all over & none of them are marked. The fishing is excellent pretty much anywhere on the river. It's a beautiful river, the scenery is breathtaking & you might not want to leave. I never do. Lol
