It may be rare for the heat index to be so high in CNY but it is fairly routine here where I live. Our heat index has risen to over 100 a couple of times in recent days. Please be careful if you have to be out in the heat today in CNY.
I had a very real experience with heat exhaustion earlier this summer and it was a real wake up call. I was thinking along the lines that if I was sweating I was losing weight and the exercise was a good thing, even in the extreme heat. I was working in the sun until I became weak, dizzy and light headed, dehydrated, and nauseous. It actually took me over 24 hours to recover and a couple of days to get my strength back.
I still continue to work outside. I have worked with my neighbor for a couple of hours at a time cutting up the tree that fell in a storm recently in his yard. We kept a cooler full of bottled water close by and rested in the shade often.
If you have to be out in the extreme heat today be careful and stay hydrated. Rest often in a place out of the sun and preferably in a cool place. Even as well acclimated to the heat as I have become living in the South, I learned the hard way that heat exhaustion is a very real danger. Especially for us older folks who may have health issues that might increase the danger. I still work out in the heat every day that it doesn't rain. I am not happy if I can't be out in the fresh air and doing something productive. I simply have learned to break every 15 minutes or so, sit in a chair in the carport or in my shop with a fan blowing on me and a cool drink at hand. I consume several bottles of bottled water and a bottle or two of a sports drink on a hot day. Propel brand electrolyte fitness water is my favorite. It is quite inexpensive and yet a tasty thirst quencher without the sugar found in Gatorade.

That is all "Dr Clipper's" unsolicited medical advice for today. LOL
PB, knowing how active you are with your walking around downtown for exercise, keep that water bottle handy today. Stay well my friend.
