I worked outside most of the day picking up storm debris. There were small branches and twigs from one end of the yard to the other. Did some weed eating, cleaned up my old chainsaw, advertised it on a facebook garage sale site and sold it in 1/2 hour. It was a cheap saw, and always started hard. I sharpened the chain, cleaned the carburetor and adjusted it. and sold it to the guy for 40 bucks. I was honest and told him that it sometimes floods and you have to be careful not to choke it too much. He was happy with it and he was a young guy. He said he can't afford a more expensive one and he has a tree down in his yard from the storm. I felt sorry for him. If I wasn't trying to sell my saw I might have taken my saw and went and cut it up for him. When I came in I was soaked with sweat. My t-shirt was stuck to my back and Kathy had to help me peel it off so I could take a shower. I was out with the dog at 7:30 and it was still 86 degrees. I also have my old Craftsman table saw for sale and have had a couple of bites on it. I just have too many power saws and tools and need to get rid of duplicates. I had two table saws, plus a radial arm saw. I want to sell my band saw so I can get a bigger and better model, and the same with my scroll saw. Time to upgrade some of my older equipment. Tomorrow morning my sis and brother in-law are coming to help me finish the concrete project that was interrupted by my finger injury. 24 50 lb bags to mix and pour. Hopefully the weather will hold and we can get it all done tomorrow.

Best of luck with the pour. Yes hot it was today. Monday here it is to be even hotter with highs in upper 90's and a heat index 95 to 100+ degrees. Yippy.
I read for two hours this afternoon in front of the building with my chair on the concrete. The housing authority didn't have the necessary money(lol) to spray all the grass and the bugs are out especially those Japanese beetles. They jump and stick to your clothing and hair. Did get my walk in but did that tonight 5 times around the two apartment complexes then up Bleecker to Genny then back down. I'm down to 172 but have to get to 150 to 160. I bought ankle weights of 5 pounds each leg but only using 2 pounds each leg. I can't get used to them around my ankle so before I trip and do some damage I will place them in my book bag and walk with them. That worked fine last year but I did not have the weights only 2- 28 0z cans of crushed tomatoes. When I increased poundage I added some canned black beans,LOL

LOL! I will have to look around for some wrist weights that we had for my dad to help hold his hands steady from his essential tremor so he could read his paperback westerns. I think that they were only 1lb weights but with the active work and activity that I stay busy with, the extra pound would probably be quite beneficial. I have been working out on the Gazelle exercise glider that I bought for $35 the other day. I do it for 15 minutes at a fairly rapid rate when I first get up in the morning. I drink my first cup of coffee, look at my email, and then turn on the news and climb on the glider. If I don't get a lot of active exercise during the day from my normal routine chores, I may climb back on it after supper for 15 more minutes. It is not difficult to do 15 or 20 minutes without stopping when you turn on the tv and concentrate on watching the tv instead of watching the clock and focusing on the exercise exertion. www.walmart.com/ip/Gazelle-Edge-Machine/23745220?wmlspartner=wmtlabs&adid=22222222222017414372&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=e&wl1=o&wl2=c&wl3=10375017802&wl4=pla-1105723734955&wl12=23745220_10000001235&wl14=gazelle%20exercise%20machine%20replacement%20parts&veh=sem&msclkid=fac4c233c2f111d5617b9d2d8810daccI couldn't walk with 5 lbs on each ankle. I wouldn't be walking, I would be trudging along walking like the Frankenstein monster. LOL I miss going to rehab 4 days a week. The exercise I get there leaves me feeling better every day. I hope to continue to go there to exercise for $3 a week for 1 1/2 hours a day for graduates from their rehab program. Keep up the good work PB. I am sure that you feel better as a result. If you are going to put beans in your backpack put a spoon and a can opener in there too in case you need a little protein boost along the way, haha. I was much more morbidly obese than what you probably were. I am a big man but at 322 lbs I was ridiculously obese. It is no wonder I had a heart attack. I have lost 58 lbs and need to lose at least another 30 to be in the shape I was in when physically fit. At 240 I didn't have a belly and I felt good. The sedentary lifestyle I was living when I was so fat has cost me in lost muscle tissue. My arms and legs have become flabby and need to be built back up. I probably need to get back down to at least 220 or 225 to be in pretty good shape. I am glad that you are exercising PB. I know that you have always stayed on the move, but riding the bus is not exercise, haha. Before the pandemic you probably got some cardio exercise walking to and from downtown and around the stores when you went to NH Walmart. Other than my yard work or working in my wood shop, I was normally found sitting here on my dead ass in front of the computer. Have a good night my friend. Stay well and stay safe.

Riding the Bus is not exercise. Well I have to step into the Bus. Then walk to a seat shuffle into the seat and then sit down. Then repeat the entire process is reverse later on. Good thing I get a breather in between.

ROFL. I see that in recent months you have been spending time getting in a good walk downtown and around the neighborhood. I wish I could do that but our road is like Daytona speedway and no real shoulder to walk on. Before the pandemic I used to be able to go to Bass Pro or Target and take a brisk walk in air conditioned comfort, but with the Covid thing I don't spend any more time in a store than I have to. I just came back from a trip to find a repair kit for a garden hose. I had a 50 foot hose and I want to split into two 25 foot hoses. Went to Lowes. They only had on cheap plastic one and only the male end. I need both. Thought about stopping at the dreaded Walmart but decided I was not going to wade through that unmasked hoard to get to the garden center. The only door that they have open is the grocery entrance. They have a sign stating that they "recommend" a mask, and from what I could see a large number of customers were walking right by the sign and into the store unmasked. I will get my steps in on the exercise strider later.
I didn't mean anything offensive by the remark that riding the bus is not exercise. I meant that you used to ride to Walmart where I am sure you got plenty of exercise along with a cup of coffee and some people watching. With the Covid thing I haven't seen you mention your daily expedition lately. Just walking downtown to the transportation center is a pretty good stroll isn't it?

No, I was joking about the Bus,lol. So far I haven't seen anyone get into Walmart without wearing a mask now that it is required. If the wear it correctly once inside who knows. Mine is on all the time and I even self checkout to make it safer. For some reason in the self checkout area they are only taking credit/debit cards for the store in North Utica only. Do not know why!
Did you get the cement poured and leveled for the sidewalk?

We finished the concrete work on the driveway yesterday. We started at about and by early afternoon. We were washed up and eating dinner at a little after 1pm. We had poured 32 bags of concrete mix. I had 24 and we had to go get 8 more to finish the job. What should have been a fairly easy project turned into a nightmare with weather delays and recovery time for my badly lacerated finger.
Probably start tomorrow on the neighbor's huge pine tree that is laying on top of his crushed storage building. It will take at least the better part of two days to get it cut up and cleaned up. It was probably 70 plus feet tall and about 3 feet or more at the base. One of those towering Georgia pines.

For chainsaw action I recommend "Sometimes a Great Notion" either book or movie. I read a lot of Keysy years ago.

CB, I seldom missed a Paul Newman movie and I saw that one. I can't remember exactly when but I went to see it with my first wife so it must have been in the 70's. I wouldn't mind watching it again. I wonder if I could rent it from Red Box. Paul Newman and Steve McQueen were my favorite actors back in those days.
BHU, my neighbor followed in my footsteps and went to the Stihl dealer yesterday and bought a Stihl with a 22 inch bar and a bigger engine than mine. He is quite a bit younger and stronger and can wrestle with the heavier saw. Me I will stick to my homeowner sized model that will cut anything I anticipate needing to cut. If I get into anything my little saw won't handle I will be calling the tree service to clean it up. I will be limiting my activity to limbs and cutting smaller diameter stuff into manageable sized pieces. Some of the branches are anywhere from a foot thick down to 6 inches or so. I just feel that I should help him however I can. He is always willing to come over and do heavy lifting or unloading anything heavy from the truck for me. He is in his early 60's and built like a tank.

Today was a day of recuperation from yesterday. I just putzed around and cleaned up the remainder of the mess from yesterday's work. When we were done yesterday I cleaned up and rinsed everything, but today the cement mixer had a grayish film all over it from the lime in the cement. You could wipe it off with a dry cloth so I wiped it down good and put two coats of Nu-Finish car polish on it so it will rinse easier the next time we use it and sprayed the inside of the drum liberally with silicone spray. I always keep a bottle of Nu-Finish around to polish my saw tables so they don't rust and so wood slides easier. All the hand tools such as shovels, the rake and the hoe got a good wash job and I spray that type of tools with a spray silicone to prevent rust when they are not going to be used for a while. It makes them pretty much non-stick when I go to use them again. I was taught growing up that if you take good care of tools they will last a lifetime. Many of my rakes, shovels, and garden tools were originally my grand father's and then my dads. I spray them with silicone spray or cheap spray paint and the handles get treated once a year with linseed oil. So many of my tools are inherited from my dad and grand dad that i just take pride in keeping them clean and serviceable.
