Yep! You have to love country living. I was up at six this morning to grab a shovel and uncover the septic tank in preparation for pumping. The company that does the pumping will uncover it for $75 and they simply pile all the dirt and sod in a heap. Nope! It is only less than a foot below grade and I uncovered it in less than 15 minutes and I cut the sod in squares so that I can carefully replace it when they are through. They are supposed to be here about 9 so I got the chore out of the way before I even had my first cup of Folger's.
Our water comes from a utility district thank goodness. We don't have to fuss with a well and all the drawbacks that come with that, but there is no sewers in our area so everyone has a septic system and the related maintenance that can go with it.

My Aunt and Uncle had a septic tank. They lived in North Utica on Lorraine Ave. Now that is many years ago now the Aunt lives in Florida and the Uncle is in Forest Hill Cemetery Utica NY.

Well the saga continues. I think I mentioned before that when they took down the trees a few weeks ago the guy put plywood down over the sewer pipe area so they could drive the bucket truck up into the side yard. The moron put down the plywood and then missed it completely and drove over the pipe. Well the septic has been getting slower and slower until yesterday it was backing up. The guy came and pumped the tank. When he had it empty he had us flush both toilets and let a sink full of water down. It never got to the tank. He ran a snake up the pipe from the tank end and sure enough, where the guy drove over the pipe it is collapsed. It was full of clay so that the snake would not even go through it. I guess we will be using the toilet in the camper until Monday when they can come and dig the pipe up and replace it.
I talked to the tree service owner and he said to just do it and he would write me a check. I trust him only because he came and looked at where they had driven over it right after they did it, and he was here looking at the damage they did to the lawn with the Bobcat. He made that good and I am confident that he will make this good also. Worse case scenario I go to small claims court with the septic guy as a witness. The dual wheel indentations are still there and I took photos of them.

My cousin just paid $5000 to have the sewer pipe in his front yard replaced after it collapsed. He lives in Utica so anything before the street hookup the homeowner is responsible. A few years ago when I had the roof here replaced the roofer wanted to park his dump trunk on our front yard which would have been loaded down with I don't know how many square feet of asphalt shingles. I told him no way. The only thing I park in this front yard is my riding mower if I take a break for a cold beer, which ain't often. Lol

He seems like an honest guy. He took one look at the damage to our lawn a couple of days after the crew took dwn the trees and fired the moron that was operating the bobcat. He saw the tracks where the guy drove over the pipe with the truck and said at that time if there was a problem with the pipe being damaged he would cover it. Since that time the drains have been slow, the toilets gurgle when the washing machine empties and it progressed until yesterday when the toilets would barely flush and the washing machine water was coming up in the side yard. I always have a half a cinderblock making where the tank cover is buried. Laying flat it is level with the ground so I can mow over it. The jackass on the bobcat backed over the cover to the tank and the machine was heavy enough that it broke the cinder block in pieces. I am surprised it didn't break the cement tank cover.
I am just not too excited about having the lawn dug up again, and a cut made across the blacktop driveway. There simply is no way to dig up 50 or 60 feet of plugged sewer pipe without that stinking mess pouring out into the trench, but it is what it is.

I just got off the phone with the septic guy again. We were talking last night and with the camper parked in the yard and her nephew and his girlfriend staying in it when they visit, I am having them put a 45 degree cleanout in the pipe and a stand pipe with a cap so that we will be able to dump the tanks on the trailer directly into the septic. They have always had to use the toilet in the camper for peeing during the night only and they come in the house to do number two or take showers. Luck Jimmy won't have to bring a bucket of pee in and dump it in the toilet when they are preparing to leave anymore.
We haven't camped in a couple of years now, but in the future if we camp where they don't have a sewer connection I won't have to dump the trailer at their filthy dump station before coming home. Some of those dumping stations are nasty because people are careless and let some sewage run on the ground around the trailer when they disconnect their drain hose at the dumping station. I will be able to dump the tanks when we get home, at my leisure, in a clean environment.
I would not want to have strangers out in the driveway for a week, but some people this near to the track have a sewer hook up installed in their septic system and rent out the space for someone to stay in their driveway instead of at the crowded campgrounds. One of my sister's neighbors allows someone to camp in his driveway during the races for $100 per night. He also will let them rent HIS trailer for a total of $250 per night and when NASCAR used to sell out the tickets he would always have someone there for 4 or 5 nights. I guess the same people would reserve the space from year to year. If I could find someone I actually knew personally and was friends with, I would consider the idea but to rent to strangers and take a chance on having a bunch of drunken partying strangers living outside the kitchen door is not something that I would take a chance on for ANY amount of money.

Well, I hear there's a guy here looking to camp out for a few weeks south of CNY this coming winter. HAHAHAHA!

Tennessee isn't big enough to hold ALL of those looking to escape CNY any time of the year and winter time in particular, haha.
If all the new Yorkers that are looking to escape NY ANY time of the year were to move to Tennessee poor Cuomo would be unemployed and would be forced to turn out the lights in Albany and run for the senate or president so he could continue to inflict his disastrous policies and taxation on the whole country.
