It seems nice to be able to relax this morning with nothing more to do than walk the dog and water the garden. It is going to be nice to just work at cleaning up the shop and putting away the tools before going to cardiac rehab. I think we used every darned tool in the shop yesterday while building the picnic table and didn't put ANY of them away. We used the miter saw, the table saw, the router to round over the edges, and the jig saw to round the corners on the benches. There is literally no where that I can walk without wading in sawdust, haha.
It was a project talked about for quite some time. I had told him that we would build it in my shop whenever we got the time to do it. He was was having family over for a cookout for his kid's graduation and only had one picnic table so I gave him the materials list and he went to Lowes and got everything we needed. We got it built and he said he was very grateful that I was able to put aside my chores long enough to build it. Heck, the truth be known, I seldom pass up a chance to build something in the shop. I love working with wood.
Today I can put everything away in it's proper place and clean up the shop, working at a leisurely pace. I go to rehab at 1:30, get home from there at 3:45 or so and we are going to venture out for dinner with friends for the first time in months. They have eaten at Longhorn Steak House recently and said that the social distancing and other guidelines are being followed to the letter, with staff all wearing masks and gloves and people waiting outside, socially distanced until their table is sanitized and ready. We have to start somewhere. Poor Kathy has been isolated pretty much since the pandemic began. At least I get out to shop and go to rehab. With the prospects of this being a long term thing I think we all need to look at what we can do and where we can go if we exercise reasonable precautions and maintain social distancing. We are going stir crazy.
